I don't like the artwork. Too... computer generated looking. Maybe I'm attaching to much significance to it, but if we look back at the rest of Sondheim's original artwork for original productions, this is nowhere near as good. At least not for me. I always much prefer hand-drawn animation.
Beyoncé is not an ally. Actions speak louder than words, Mrs. Carter. #Dubai #$$$

Agree! This is the best SpotCo could do? I find it boring as if it was handed and quickly done by an intern and told we need something in 3 hours. Not a fan of the artwork and what's to like? Far from being surreal!

No where near sold out."
And we really should not be surprised by this because outside our little community of theater-lovers, there is much about this show that would not initially appeal to someone just looking for a fun night out. If the show is good and word of mouth is strong, that obviously can change.
For what it's worth, it looks to me like there's been a pickup in sales this week. I was keeping an eye on a couple of weekends for which there had been good availability at all price levels, but the inventory has dwindled quite a bit in the past few days. I was lucky enough to get the last two $129 tickets for the final Saturday matinee on January 6 - there had been more like 20 tickets at that price level the last time I checked.

Exactly. Wayyyyyyyyy too expensive for what is potentially a problematic show, especially if the rumors are true that there are hardly any songs in act two.

You could actually read the New York Magazine article all about this that came out on August 28th instead of citing "rumors" about Act Two of the show....jeez

I don't have a New York Magazine subscription and I can read it with no problem.

Doesn’t work for me. Asks me to subscribe. Whatever. I’m not paying hundreds of dollars to see this thing no matter what it says. All you rich people, enjoy yourselves!
Surprisingly quite a few tickets have opened for the first preview - I wonder why they were held back (and I assume beyond too). It really does look like availability is plenty :).
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
