Is Bette the only winner who didn't go on stage in the finale?

No she grandstanded when it wasn't necessary. Obnoxious, condescending and rude.

Holy ****, and you lot wanna call Bette obnoxious? Get a grip, queens...
Spacey was excellent as host. Maybe they should take their 16th choice for now on.

She was probably still in the back with the press.

That was somewhat disappointing. For such a strong season, I didn't feel like those performances truly captured the magic I felt when I saw those shows live on Broadway. The only performances that really felt good to me were Great Comet's and Bandstand's. Now I wish I had seen Bandstand instead of Dear Evan Hansen when I had gone to Broadway, I feel I would have enjoyed it a lot more.
A little disappointed at how much of a sweep it was for DEH, kind of wish it was more of the love being spread. I am happy for DEH getting its honors and for its fans though! I'm also glad that CFA and Great Comet atleast weren't shut out completely - though even though CFA was my favorite, I still feel Great Comet deserved Best Director instead. but I'm happy CFA got one award. Great Comet only getting two is the biggest disappointment of the night, as well as Groundhog Day being shut out (I'm in the minority in that I personally think Andy Karl deserved the Best Actor Tony over Platt.)
Kevin Spacey was a great host though! I didn't know he could sing like that, and I thought he was great every time he was on stage. Overall good show, but disappointing presentation from most of the shows. I feel that people looking back and watching the Tonys without having ever seen the show will get hte idea that this was a weak season instead of the very strong season it was.
At 11:06, just before Best Musical, USTVNow switched over to the local Pennsylvania station and their newscast. They apologized for being on a bit later because of the Tonys. Yeah, really, aplogize for cutting off just moments before the big moment. After some chatter with talking heads and the hot weather, they went back to the Tonys. I wonder if they got calls. It cut back just as Kevin and Robin were walking across the stage.
I have second row seats to Hello Dolly! this week. Safe to say I will be taking my seat when Bette comes out for a bow. Pretentious, obnoxious, and undeserving.
Its too bad her now stale talent is overshadowed by her ugly and disgusting ego.

Wow, bunch of tools on this message board,,,,
After the Hamilton predictability of last season, I really hoped we see the awards get spread around more this year. I think DEH is a good show but those wins for book and orchestrations are confusing. This is one of those years where you'd love to know the percentages because I imagine lots of these votes were very close and/or spread out amongst three nominees. I was pulling for CFA to win Best Musical so I'm biased in that department. I still think it's a better overall show.
I think a lot of shows blew their chance to really showcase themselves in the best way to sell tickets. A lot of the performances just weren't captivating.
There is a Bitter Tony thread... Perhaps those comments should go there.
Yeah, it would have been great for awards to be spread around, but that's not the way it works. Each voter chooses the best in each category, and the chips fall where they may. In my opinion DEH was a strong production overall - it could have taken even more awards. The thing is this was a really strong season and so many of the awards just came down to taste and how an individual element emotionally moved them. The categories were that strong. But I certainly get the disappointment that strong shows like Comet and Groundhog Day (not to mention Sunset Boulevard and Anastasia) deserved more recognition.
Just as a show, I thought this year's ceremony was downright abysmal.

And you are?
What fun Patti Lupone & Kevin Spacey during the finale song moment
What's sad about this year's Tonys to me was that after an incredibly exciting season, it really didn't reflect that excitement. Some of it was by choice (Sunday in the Park with George withdrawing itself from contention) some of it was out of pure Tony snobbery (Anastasia being completely ignored - which I haven't seen but you can't deny has drawn a lot of attention)... And while I'm happy for DEH - I had to admit I felt badly for Josh Groban. Just felt like a lot of bizarre missed opportunities
I'm happy for Bette. She was a joy in Dolly and deserved that Tony. However, seeing her fans congratulate her on social media and saying they wished they could afford to see her still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. To whoever was behind not performing a production number, you're a really crummy piece of work.

I wholeheartedly agree. A pretty terrible ceremony minus a couple performances.

DEH will sell tickets because it won best musical and other awards. As for the performances, I think the only shows that helped themselves sell tickets was "Bandstand" and "Comet".
DEH is pretty much sold out till November and Ben leaves then after his 1 year contract unless he renews for a couple of months or so but I doubt that will happen and people will want to see BEN

I totally agree with this poster, but will add what others also said. If she wanted to, she would have performed. So, she has to be one of the individuals responsible. And this from one of the truly great live performers of my time, if not all time. Bad form, disrespectful to, and disappointing for, your following.
