I am so much more interested in this announcement than the unsealing of Trump's indictment tomorrow.

this was literally one of the hottest theatre tickets of the winter. tickets were expensive and many people who wanted to were not able to see this. the aim is not tourists.
As for the staging, most of the action takes place on a unit set built on the stage. If they can transfer the set as is (which I imagine they will be), it will be a pretty easy move. It also closed only 10 days ago so it’s very fresh.

Zero understanding about how much time would be needed to move this to Broadway, but it seems like a very ambitious, almost silly, endeavor-and for what? So it can win Tony awards? If it needs Tony exposure, the awards come too late. I'm guessing it sells out either way, in which case-why rush it? I guess its possible that they're rushing because otherwise they lose the celebrity leads
anyway i wasnt about to pay $300 to head out to Bklyn but would love to see this so

A theater like The Jones that, historically due to location, has a tough time getting audiences into it, would be well served with a show with big stars that will sell it out on their names alone.

You have this from an inside source I presume? The hearsay going around regarding the scheduling issues tended to center on Gerwig, which made me guess that Isaac was mostly good to go. Plus, if this show runs into the summer it'll overlap with when Three Sisters was supposed to be, which would've led me to assume that Isaac was otherwise free during this time period. Unless he had another reason for exiting Three Sisters?

The show will be open in time for the TONY awards of THIS season. Thrilling! Yes, at The Jones, only 10 weeks!

I imagine people will be referring to this as precedent for years to comes. Every time there’s an open house this late on the season, or every time we’re wondering if an off-Broadway transfer can make it in time, someone will bring up this show as an example. Which on one hand is apt: it’s an important reminder that not everything has to follow the traditional rules. But also important to remember the specific advantages this show had that are allowing them to forgo a traditional preview period.

Jones could still be a good theatre though. It got renovated, then had a massive flop, then a cancelled production, and now sits empty. I'd imagine the Shubert org wants to fill it and wants it to finally have a hit."
Well I'm pretty shocked!
This is awesome though! As I said Yesterday, it'll be great to see a hit at the Jones!

This is the Broadway equivalent of the Andrea Riseborough Oscars situation! Everything about the SIDNEY transfer is unique and unusual (from the two previews to the late announcement). Depending on how it’s received, it won’t be advisable either.
This has shades of “plan A” for Hamilton, which if Jeffrey Seller had had his way would have ended its Public run early and immediately transferred to Bway before the 2015 Tony cutoff; instead it waited til summer 2015 on Lin & Kail’s insistence.
Oscar could very well win Best Actor, considering the unknown nature of that field. He also might be the only nominee of the category in a show that’s still running - if the nominees are some combo of JDW, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Hawkins / Mateen, Wendell P, Jordan Cooper. (Maybe Sean Hayes is the other exception)

Well you have Hayes and Fat Ham.
Id think it’s also a lock/win for play revival.

You are also forgetting Marcel Spears in the mix for FAT HAM. (I think he will have better odds over JDW and, unfortunately, Cooper)
This is a STACKED category

There isn’t anything on Telecharge either. They’re coming in last minute, starting performances in a few weeks and tickets didn’t go on sale with the announcement? Strange.

Off Topic, but re: the lead actor discussion above: Jordan E Cooper will be competing for Featured Actor, not Lead. He is billed below the title and the committee didn't make any determinations to change categories opposite from billing for Ain't No Mo.

This is, interestingly, not being produced by David Binder (outgoing BAM Artistic Director). Instead, it's being produced by Seaview, Sue Wagner, John Johnson, Jeremy O. Harris, and BAM.

Here's the link for the tickets.
Performances are usually 1:00pm and 7:00pm and it looks like Opening Night tickets are also on sale.
Running through July 2nd. Tickets start at $48 (inc. fees), but that's only the last row of the balcony.

I am absolutely shocked at the lack of "HOW ARE RICH PRODUCERS GOING TO MAKE THEIR MONEY BAAAAACK?" discourse on this thread.

If the BAM run is any indication, this can surely recoup despite the 10-week engagement. Especially if they secretly have Oscar & Rachel for another 2-4 week extension.
