That seems like an okay-ish deal. I've moving soon, too, and don't have many opportunities after opening... and it seems risky to wait too, because it might very well get good reviews and sell even better....
I'd even pay TKTS, but it doing too well to be on there, at least right now, and $79 would be in that ballpark...
They do sell the $75 in advance. Someone in front of me at the BO the other day bought one. They also sell box seats that arnt on Ricketmaster for $159
Because the performance was not 100% sold out today (looked like less than 10 tickets remained unsold per Ticketmaster), no standing room was offered for the Sunday 3pm matinee. The man and the woman at the box office were both very friendly, but they had no choice but to not sell me the ticket since that's what they were directed to do. (I think they knew I wasn't going to settle for a $79 partial view orchestra.)
Hopefully they'll be given more flexibility in the future - I remember I had to go to Pippin 14 times before I finally got a standing room ticket, since if there was just ONE ticket left, they refused to sell standing room. And when I recommended shows to out-of-town guests and friends, I recommended anything BUT Pippin because of the horrible ordeal they put me through.
All shows don't sell standing room unless all the seats are sold. Sucks Waitress didn't sell out on a weekend performance though. I was hoping to grab a standing room spot soon.
I also went for standing room today, and agree the box office staff at the theater couldn't be nicer. They told me shortly after 12:30 when I went there that it was very unlikely they would have standing room for the performance; and said that it actually, at this point, is rare for every seat to be sold.
I bought instead a ticket in the mezzanine for $69 and enjoyed the performance very much. The score and the staging were my favorite parts, in addition, of course, to the leading performance. Jessie Mueller is so cool and this was another brilliant performance from her. That said, I still feel Cynthia Ervio will have no trouble taking the Tony this year.
I personally thought the 2nd act could still be trimmed ever so slightly, but the audience today seemed to truly love the show. Lots of laughter and wiping away tears throughout. After Hamilton, I suspect this will be the biggest financial hit of the season.
“I knew who I was this morning, but I've changed a few times since then.”
I went on Friday to see if there were any available tickets for that evening's performance. My friend and I scored $79 tickets for that evening. Our seats were in Box C and they were listed as partial view, though we had no trouble at all seeing anything expect one time when Jessie was far stage left. I'd highly suggest these seats as we had a terrific view!
I have a question about the TKTS tickets (though, it is more of a general TKTS question).
I've just downloaded the app, and I see Waitress is listed as 30% off, however, no ticket prices are actually listed. Does that just mean that whatever tickets they have remaining will be 30% off and you don't know until you go to the box what assortment they've got left?
TFMH18, chances are you will only be offered the top price ticket with the discount plus a service fee per ticket. The only way a cheaper ticket will be sent to TKTS is if all the higher priced tickets are sold out and there's a substantial amount of cheaper priced tickets available, which is rare.
I saw Waitress tonight with a Partial View seat for $80. I bought the ticket on Monday at the BO. My seat was in the front box, house right, the seat towards the auditorium, and I thought it was a great view, at least for this show. The only bit blocked off is the back of stage left, and the leads barely ever stepped out of my view. Not sure how much more partial the outside seats in the boxes are, but the lady next to me didn't even lean over to me so I assume she was fine.
I would recommend these seats over rear mezz, because you're so close, and can see pretty much everything!
Are the SRO seats the only discount the show is offering? I know it's selling really well, but I would have thought they would announce a rush policy by now!
I did SRO last Friday if anyone is interested. I showed up at 5:50 and was 8th in line. They handed out the tickets at 6:30. which was awesome, because I've walked past there several times when they weren't giving out the tickets until 7:30. Perhaps they got a bump from the Tonys. They gave out 12 tickets which is the maximum they give out per show. SRO is a great view in this theatre, however, at intermission, me and two of my line pals took three front row center seats that no one had claimed, after confirming with the people around us that they didn't mind. Wonderful show, and Jessie Mueller sang She Used to Be Mine three feet in front of me. Amazing.
I mean to be fair they aren't obligated to do rush or lottery. Im happy they are doing good where they don't sell rush, and only SRO. It'll be nice to have some sort of other cheap ticket option, but maybe once the fall starts they'll do some sort of lottery or something.
TFMH18 said: "I would just like to note how obscene it is that this show has still not yet established a rush policy. Just egregious.
"
Why offer $25-$40 tickets as a rush when they're hitting a million dollars every week? If they were selling poorly, I can see them putting a rush in place. But, for now, why bother? People are spending the money, so, why start now? I have a feeling if sales drop in the fall, they will set a policy.
Of course there is no obligation to do anything. But they are, to my knowledge, the only show on Broadway right now without a policy in place. Even shows that sell much better (like Wicked, Lion King, Hamilton) all at least have a lottery for 25 tickets. And because they are selling so well it wouldn't hurt them to set aside 20-25 tickets each performance to sell for under $50.
We can't demand it, we can't even be upset about it, really, but I think it's fair enough to call them out on it.
^Waitress has discount tickets though(and have since previews) which Hamilton, Lion King and Wicked do not. Those shows only have lotteries. All of the mentioned shows are doing near or above 100% in gross and attendance.
