I wonder if she feels any pressure to quit music man?
From Twitter: Sutton Foster eat ur heart out.
Adrienne Warren: And yes, I will not be signing anyone’s contract until this industry is ready to move forward. Start communicating with this community. I believe WE can do this together...
Adrienne doesn't say anything in her tweet about Sutton though. Another actor has retweeted her and for some reason decided to involve Sutton Foster.
I don't know what this has to do with her at all. She is the one who threatened to walk out of Music Man if something wasn't done about Rudin. And while she is a big Broadway star and uber talented, she is not a major household name, and certainly not the reason that show is selling oodles of premium priced tickets. Nevertheless, she used whatever amount of power and position she had as leverage...and people want to put her on blast for some reason. Plus, the speech Adrienne gave was about supporting and protecting BIPOC artists on Broadway...not workplace harassment which was what the Rudin fiasco was about. So why is anyone "coming for" Sutton again? I do not get it.
Let me be clear: I want change, representation, equity, and equality on Broadway and in the community. What I don't understand are the following tweets from this Twitter account:
The "WeSeeYouWhiteBroadway" account is calling on artists to resign or step down from....what exactly? There is no Broadway right now (this is about Broadway right? Hard to tell sometimes with how unorganized it is. Jaime Cepero hasnt even been on Broadway?), and many of the people tagged are not involved with any project right now.
For some reason Sutton has tons of negative comments on her instagram post...yet other actors dont on similar posts advertising concerts, events, Tv appearances, etc. Including people tagged by the above account. Why pile on Sutton? What does it accomplish? I want equity and inclusion from top to bottom in this industry, but these tactics dont make a lick of sense.
This is a different account/group - We See You White Broadway, which is not the same as We See You White American Theatre (which is having its own internal reckoning at the moment).

Does anyone know why Foster would be getting backlash when she said she'd leave The Music Man if something wasn't done about Rudin--and then change occurred? What does this have to do with "white supremacy" (which is a silly, infantile charge to make against American theater--easily the most inclusive and most liberal business operating in the United States)?
I'm not super familiar with this, are the artists being asked to step down because of specific reasons or allegations, or is it most just conveying that actors should strike until Broadway has equality and representation?
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!
My issue is that this movement has fallen on BIPOC actors while their white peers have stayed silent and complicit. There is no reason the big stars, who happen to be white, aren't speaking out. They have so much power but instead are leaving this on the backs of BIPOC actors.

The only thing I can think of is people putting too much weight on public social media posts and not giving people the benefit of the doubt that they are working towards change behind the scenes. I think Sutton threatening to walk is industry gossip that was then published in THR, Deadline, etc. and not something Sutton publicly exclaimed.
For what it's worth, I have to believe this twitter account is a parody. Reading through their replies they regularly say things like "some blacks should know their place" and "some trans should sit down and shut up" (taken verbatim), as well as claiming to be an industry worker while seemingly having no clue that Mean Girls and Beetlejuice have closed. And some sickening things about child molestation (can I say that with this filter?) that I'd rather not repeat.
While I stand fully with Adrienne, Jaime, and others who are actually speaking out, I think the best thing to do is ignore this account because I don't know what they're doing.
Of course it is. "Uncle Victor" who claims to be around 70 years old has worked on Broadway for FORTY FIVE YEARS yet cannot type the word you and seems to be more "woke" than anyone on this website.
Weird.
Kelli and Sutton are Broadway stars who bring in the money, and (this WILL be controversial), they deserve to work and support their families too. I know, I know, shocking, but hey, that's me.
Yeah, please don't come for my girls. Sutton Foster did nothing wrong. O'hara is a class act.
I'm just so confused by all this. It was Rudin then suddenly Equity getting called out for not having enough representation, but then Broadway IS diverse, but then it's not, I'm just confused and I'm not even sure what the outcome is? Are they wanting every show going forward to have 3 black actors, 3 asian actors, 3 latinx actors, etc? What's the point of all this? Where is the unfairness people are trying to call out? Of all the industries, this is the one that really does rely on talent. You can't just cast anybody in any role. I've seen Hamilton on "Actors Access" many times - which is the audition breakdown services that anyone can access - which means they are (or were) struggling to find good candidates for the job. So it seems like there's a lot of work out there? But maybe I'm totally wrong. Who knows. I don't get it.
Both are classy, talented, in demand and did absolutely nothing wrong. People who come for them don't understand any of this and/or are 12 year old children who are bored with virtual school. Period.
Yeah this looks less like a parody account and more like right-wing psyops pretending to be leftist agitators. We’ve seen it before in BLM spaces.
Keep in mind that with the exception of true radicals, POC want representation and equity, not the abolition of whiteness. Posts claiming to advocate that point of view are usually either trolling or something more insidious.
I mean you say that, but I've seen the Sutton Foster meme shared by a lot of white Equity members... it's concerning... I think people have lost the end goal.
So they want to go from White Supremacy to Black Supremacy- I find this whole WOKE movement to be nauseating- and it is way overdone. STOP IT before we get someone even worse than Trump. And that is scary. The message of diversity is out there and is being enacted in all segments of society and media- as you would know if you opened your eyes. You have made your point. I guess every Tony Award- every star on BWAY- every EMMY award should only be awarded to POC to make up for past injustices- sorry, I don't buy it.

This is wise and worth remembering. Thanks."
Agreed. Also, this Twitter account is literally one person - probably sitting alone, sad, (likely unemployed) in their apartment with nothing better to do than stir the pot.
Social media has become so toxic. This nonsense has to stop. Can we as a country just like, smoke a bowl together and take a week off from hating each other?
