The Distinctive Baritone said: "Aaron Tveit is a super-talented guy, but I do not see him in this role at all. If they are going to go with a Broadway dude with some TV/film exposure, Raul Esparza would be more appropriate and bring in just as many (or as few) ticket sales."
His Christian & John Wilkes Booth make ME see him in the role at least. And vocally I think it would fit, which many might disagree with me on since he's known for a very light lyric tenor. But recently his voice has darkened and it sits lower, and is much fuller than before. He also sounds more classical. So I can both see it and hear it. Even though he would still definitely have the highest, lightest voice of every Sweeneys ever, even if his voice is darker now. He's a versatile actor and vocalist. And he certainly has grown into his Sondheim. He got rave reviews for both Booth and Bobby. I agree that Raúl would make a great Sweeney too! I'm hoping they extend and just let a bunch of Broadway vets live out their Sweeney dream. Which probably won't happen, but hey, one can dream. I would also love to see Jason Danieley as Sweeney!!!
