so excited...my dad just snagged me the last idina/maureen in the J & R store in NYC...a sales person had to go all the way in the back and there was one more un-opened box...there was one maureen at the bottom!
Well, it's rather excellent marketing, considering that the team is probably well aware that people are crazy enough to buy more than one, just for the cover.
its great marketing....there must be people spending $240 on all 8....I picked up a Maureen cover, just for the fact that she's the most appealing looking female of the bunch. Barnes and Nobles only had 1 Maureen. The rest were mixed between Angel and Mimi.
I admit i'm among the nuts.. I went to Virgin Mega store in Times Sq.. NO MAUREENS left.. Just 2 Mimis, Marks,Collins,Angels, Joannes,Bennys.. Walked all the way down to Virgin Union Sq where they had 8 Maureens and Snagged my Maureen cd..and they had rogers too fyi..but, I only needed one..
Awe I'm jealous of all of you. I guess we didn't get the special individual covers here in Canada. I had ordered mine from Amazon but I canceled it yesterday because it hadn't even shipped yet and I didn't want to wait. If I did get to choose I would definatly choose Mimi though.
And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps...
What did she realize, Kitten?
That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs.
What's wrong with that?
Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had...
Where?
On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.
Maureen!!! could've gotten mark or angel, but i love this picture of her.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
It sucks that one of the biggest music record labels out there: Warner Bros. Records can't get proper distribution. You would think in addition to getting the product out there in a timely fashion that they would at least provide retailers with a decent amount of each character (but I guess that depends on how many the store ordered, huh?).
And what's the deal with stores keeping their stock in the back? The release date was September 27th. It belongs out on the shelf not in storage.
Now I know why more people are turning to the internet to purchase their music (downloading included). People be readily available.
It's inconceivable to me that one store had a good number of the cds in stock and the store next door had none. I seriously doubt the store next door sold out their stock that quickly.
Anyway felt like ranting and this is the topic I chose. I feel better. I'll go stare at Roger, Mimi and Mark as I blast my soundtrack.
MUNKY- I just did the exact same thing! The Best Buy is the only store around here that i found that had it in stock. I went yesterday and they said well its in the back come back tomorrow. So today I went and talked with a manager and was like listen it was supposed to be out yesterday so he went back and pulled all 8 and was like ok which one do you want. So I bought Roger and Maureen. LOL i told my mom I can't find them anywhere down here so I have her back at home finding them so when she does she can buy me some other ones! I don't want 8 copies just those stupid addicting covers!!!!!! SO WORTH IT!!!
(Martha Graham from a letter to Agnes de Mille) "There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening That is translated through you into action, And because there is only one of you in all time, This expression is unique. If you block it, It will never exist through any other medium And be lost. The world will never have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is, Nor how valuable it is, Nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, To keep the channel open. You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware Directly to the urges that motivate you. Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, A blessed unrest that keeps us marching And makes us more alive than others."
bwayondabrain...the character covers are actually cardboard slip covers that go over the jewel case. the original poster artwork is the cover of the cd booklet.
o thanks! so, if i ordered it on amazon, can i still choose a case? if i cant, ill just have to buy it when im in nyc next week!!!! i think id want maureen (for my sister because her fave character is maureen, and for me cuz idina is hot)
anyonenotice the movie credits on the back of the cd jewel case?
it reads:
Revolution Studios presents in association with 1492 Pictures A TRIBECA Production A CHRIS COLUMBUS Film Based on the musical by JONATHAN LARSON "RENT" ROSARIO DAWSON TAYE DIGGS WILSON JERMAINE HEREDIA JESSE L. MARTIN IDINA MENZEL ADAM PASCAL ANTHONY RAPP TRACIE THOMS
Anyone else notice that it states "This Film is Not Yet Rated"? I guess thebooklets went to press before the MPAA gave the film it's PG-13 rating.
