That Erivo song was…a choice. I don’t know why they called it “I Couldn’t Be Happier” and made it so slow and dour. Then also put it before “Defying Gravity.”
“Wonderful” was terrible.
"Pardon my prior Mcfee slip. I know how to spell her name. I just don't know how to type it." -Talulah
"There are bridges you cross you didn't know you crossed / Until you've crossed"
I know I'm in the minority on this lyric but I've always found it very moving. Perhaps it's because I'm getting old and I have faced a number of intense challenges in my life. Going into those challenging experiences I faced them with a positive attitude but after I got through them and the adrenaline wore off I always looked back at the challenge and thought to myself, "that was a major life event, how the F*CK did I ever get through that?".
To me I think the lyric is trying to say that we sometimes subconsciously protect ourselves from the sometimes terrible realities and possibilities when we are confronted with a certain challenges. Afterwards, when we look back at what we've experienced we learn that we are stronger than we realize.
Good special overall, but not without a couple of clunkers (looking at you, "Wonderful". "For Good" was a prerecorded video from several years ago, but I managed to save my tears hearing Menzel and Chenoweth sing together again. Also, Bryan Perri is the man.
Who's a bit more excited about September 14th now?
Nettles needs to be back on Broadway. Her "No Good Deed" was chilling.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

We've been on this train for over a decade. You gotta give it up eventually... Usage denotes what words mean. Usage have dictated that Soundtrack is an acceptable term even if it's not one you use.

Some performances were filmed at the Warner in DC. Others were filmed at the Triad Theatre and The Flea Theatre in NYC and The Broadwater Second Stage in LA.

I was watching on the PBS app and not on live TV, so I was able to skip over the endless donation appeals.

I second this one. Of the whole night, they were the two performances that really felt like they were plucked right from the stage. They gave their two numbers such character while still killing the notes. Most of the rest of the night was okay but all momentum that was gained kept getting lost in the donation bits. And it was really irritating that they kept one playing clips from performances we had yet to see and spoiling what was to come during them as well.
I have nothing negative to say about Debose but it didn’t excite me. And I say that in a sense that she hit most of her notes with a mix and I kind of kinda miss that early wicked heavy belt. It just didn’t excite me the way like Brandi (I wanna say her name is Brandi Massey! Saw her do dream girls in Atlanta and till this day she is my favorite).
Also, have mixed feelings as Erivio as a person, but I loved that rendition. Gorgeous and made it meaningful. And I loved the outfit the nails. And her as Elphaba I’d not be mad at.

100%. I hope that particular casting information comes out soon. The freshly single Isaac looked particularly handsome tonight. And Ariana is just striking and perfect.
I enjoyed the mash ups and reimagined performances best. I thought it was so interesting that Casey Cott, not Corey Cott, would be performing a Broadway song.
I thought Ariana was terrific. I didn’t care for Isaac’s performance perhaps because I prefer singers sing the music as written and not with their own embellishments. Besides, I thought he looked too wimpy for a Fiyero.

100% agree. She was good, but not great. I appreciate that she optioned up on "feeling things I've never felt" (an Eden Espinosa creation), but Debose couldn't hold the end note of the song, and broke. The film needs someone interesting and original enough so that they don't blend in with the 15th Broadway replacement Elphaba, which last night's performance did.
Also please keep Rita Moreno, and whatever her Morrible interpretation was, far away from Jon Chu.
