Jane Krakowski is on Watch What Happens Live tonight and Andy asked her a fan question about not getting along with Laura Benanti during She Loves Me. Jane neither confirmed or denied it but it certainly looked like she was hinting that they didn't get along. Sandy Bernhard is also on the show tonight and threw several doses of shade towards Laura, lol.
Was this well known at the time? I think I vaguely remember some gossip around here. I thought they worked really lovely together in the show, but it wouldn't be the first time two costars didn't get along.
If it's true that really unfortunate. They played so well off each other.

Sandra has said several times on her Sirius Radio Andy show that Laura came in when she was doing She Loves Me and was sick and coughed all over her. Sandy is such a hag
Benanti and Krakowski seem to have very different personalities, so I wonder if they just didn't mesh and get along. Krakowski comes across as very earnest in interviews (in a way that isn't even cloying), whereas Benanti is much more cynical and sarcastic.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

How does not wanting a sick person to cough all over you make you a hag?

Reminds me of the Menzel/Chenoweth relationship. They aren't best friends, but they worked well together and respect each other's talents.

Actors not getting along has been quite the norm for decades. Here are famous pairings that did not get along off-stage/off-screen but created memorable and legendary performances:
Shirley MacLaine and Debra Winger in the film TERMS OF ENDEARMENT
Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams on TV in LAVERNE & SHIRLEY
Debra Winger and Richard Gere in the film AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN
Charlize Theron and Tom Brady in MAD MAX
Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth in Broadway's WICKED

The list is endless.
"
Also:
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers
The entire Sex and the City cast
The entire Desperate Housewives cast
Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady (her autobiography has some great stories about him)
And (rumored) Leslie Odom and Lin Manuel Miranda
And then of course there's the sports teammates that didn't get along but were successful together. Most notable is probably Shaquille O'Neill and Kobe Bryant.
As long as any "drama" remains checked at the stage door and the atmosphere backstage is professional that's all I ask for as a stage manager. I certainly don't care if people aren't all best friends, because the reality of the world is that some people are just not meant to be friends.
If Drama is "checked" at the door than it really isn't backstage drama is it?
I've heard several stories of other Actors, (Stephan Lynch, Tony Yasback) and Producers (INTO THE WOODS) having problems with with a certain Actress. Your reputation will follow you.
I'd always heard that Fred and Ginger got along all right. They weren't BFFs -- and there was that famous kerfuffle over the feathers on her dress -- but they seem to have respected and even liked each other. (The fact that he ultimately turned the feather thing into a joke, and gave her a charm to commemorate it, seems to bear that out.)

Add Nathan and Bebe to the list."
A note on the Producers of the INTO THE WOODS revival. They were fully aware of Benanti's injury, but refused to acknowledge it in the press. Instead they put out a release stating they loved Benanti but wish she would show up for work.
I can't speak for the other actors, but the Producers didn't make that situation any easier for themselves.

I'm really glad I'm not expected to be best friends with all of my colleagues.

I dont think this is true. I do remember Benanti being upset on twitter when Krakowski released a similar Peter Pan Live! audition parody video. She retweeted a lot of people saying Jane copied her but that was after Nine and before she loves me but that seemed to all be in good humor . However, Laura did post an instagram two weeks ago of her baby and thanked Jane for giving her the baby blanket, so I can't imagine they are really at odds with each other.

Sandra is truly an awful person.. Have you ever listened to her show? She is nice to her guests while they are on the show and then bad mouths them the very next day. She has done this countless times. She also wont drop the Laura coughing bit either and keeps bringing it up... like beating a dead horse.
I feel like whenever two talented women are in a show together there's always rumors of a backstage feud. I would take all of this with a grain of salt.
It's true. They can't stand each other. Not sure when it began, but it was the case when they did She Loves Me. It also means less than nothing to me if you don't believe me, but let's say it came from some horse's mouth.

Laura was sick. She still showed up for the interview and when asked how sick she was she said "very" and told Sandra the producers of the show had put her on vocal rest. That was the extent of it. Sandra B is not the nicest person on the planet. I also saw the instagram from Laura with her baby and the blanket Jane had sent. So probably much ado about nothing.
