Patti Lupone was fine in Company- but is her small part really worthy of a Tony? Yes, she is Broadway royalty- and deservedly so- but I did not think her performance in Company was necessarily Tony worthy- I guess I have to se the competition- but I bet there are other performances that are more worthy of this honor.

You must have seen her on an off night, because her performance is one of, if not the best, this season. She won an Olivier in 2019 for this role, so yeah, she is worthy.
Kurtal, I love your list and it seems pretty spot on. Especially the chorography (no brainer) and the best revival. I also believe Patti will win another Tony since she's sensational.

I think the general consensus here is that she will and should win. There are of course other worthy performances, but then we see what Patti does with the role, it's hers.

I agree with Lupone, Jackman, and Foster all winning. I'd say Company will win revival. And score will go to Six since it's essentially just a concert. And it's a hit.
I think Sutton has a better chance than Jackman - but I think that Lenk might walk away with it.
I think Lupone for sure and I'd love to see Matt Doyle take it home, too - but as long as he gets a nom, I'll be happy!
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
If the only 2 nominees were Sutton Foster and Sharon D. Clarke, Sharon would win, without question. I don't usually like to make definitive predictions like that, but, sorry, Sutton ain't winning, and I don't even need to see Paradise Square or Funny Girl to say it. I don't think Hugh has much of a chance either, but Best Actress will be a tougher category this year.

Yep, I think it’s a legendary performance. No other Joanne has been able to reshape the character and avoid the Stritch comparisons like Patti has. She also gets one of the two most famous and iconic numbers in the show and leads a lengthy scene with total command.
It would be neat to see Randy Graff and Patti Lupone in the same category. Two Fantine's, 1 Tony : I predict Graff's role and Shoshana Bean's are featured? From what it sounded like neither of the roles were leads, but maybe they got beefed up for Broadway.
I think Best Actress will come down to Katrina Lenk, Beanie Feldstein, and Joaquina Kalukango. I fear Sharon D. Clarke will suffer from recency bias, and Sutton just wasn't there performance-wise. Yes, Katrina wasn't the best singer on the stage, but her book work/acting outshines Sutton's, I think. And the strength of the acting alone might be enough to give her a fighting chance. Obviously haven't seen Beanie/Joaquina, but Joaquina has rave reviews coming out of an otherwise troubled production (which may hurt her, who knows), and Beanie is a Hollywood A-minus-lister who is reviving a beloved property.

I'd be shocked if Jackman or Foster won in their respective categories. TMM is doing great with ticket sales, but the performances themselves are lacking (Sutton carries the show IMO, but it's still not enough). If Tony voters saw Company early, or they're going off of reviews, Lenk might be in trouble, but if they're seeing it now, she's got a really good chance, and is working in a much more successful property vs Paradise Square, and Caroline or Change has been closed for months.
Company could have one of those legendary Tony nights, as I can see them taking 3 out of 4 of the actor/actress awards, along with best revival.
Company will win the most awards (Featured Actor, Featured Actress, Direction, Orchestrations, Set Design, Revival) - and get the most nominations - among the eligible musicals, while A Strange Loop will be awarded with both the Triple Crown and Leading Actor in a Musical for Jaquel Spivey. Clarke will take home Leading Actress in a Musical, SIX's consolation prize will be Costume Design, and Music Man will take Choreography. Every other musical is going home empty-handed.

They’re called predictions - just like how people make Oscar predictions when not all movies have been seen yet. It’s part of the fun. If you do not find it fun, you do not have to partake.

I think Paradise Square would have to have really improved since Chicago to surprise people. It received mixed reviews in Chicago, it would have to be receiving STELLAR reviews here. I think Joaquina and the Choreography could be big breakthroughs for them, but I worry that both could be dragged down by being a show that isn't extremely well-recieved.
Not a prediction of the awards, but rather the telecast in general. This TikTok just popped up on my for you page and now I NEED this to happen. Part two: https://vm.tiktok.com/TTPdPAYwNp/

" I was with you for most of this, but I think Leading Actor is far from a foregone conclusion when it’s such a hotly contested race (Spivey, Jackman, McClure, Crystal, and Frost), and having not seen Spivey yet, Frost is my clear winner by a high margin. I also see MJ snagging up choreography easily - if anything, that might assuredly be it’s one prize of the night.
With Broadway reopening and so many good shows coming out in spades, I think we are definitely in for a year where the prizes are evenly divided.

The play categories are going to be STACKED. Those winners will probably have much more even division then the musicals. Frankly, a lot of the tuners had generated early hype upon reopening, but received (or likely will receive) less-than-kind reviews. Company and A Strange Loop will nab the majority of the musical awards, not unlike Kinky Boots and Matilda back in 2013.
