I fly back-n-forth from NYC to Los Angeles every other week and I’m wearing my mask the entire 6 hour flight without any discomfort. Put your big boy/girl pants on. Geez. People complain about the most ridiculous nonsense.

I don't think that's necessary. People are already traveling with their local app and it works fine, so there's no reason why that shouldn't work at the theatre."
They will just have to announce that they can be used. I am in Jersey and we have an app now. I still had to show my card, a picture of it, at two venues in NYC. At this point it should be looked at like a personal ID. I have only glanced at the NYC app. Ours has 2 squares with the info for each shot. Only thing is on our app your name is on the first screen and you have to tap a box to open up the 2 boxes with shot info. It only takes a second though.

As a theatre goer this is all fine by me. However, as front of house staff, this is going to be a cluster ****.
I was thinking about this for a moment. As an usher, when it has it comes to people doing things like using how much they paid as a rational to be able to use their phones etc. Personally, for me, I honestly couldn’t care less when it comes to that. I feel that everyone is entitled to enjoy the show that they paid for, regardless of price. If you paid full price or rush doesn’t matter to me.
I feel that ushers will have to enforce masks the same we do for phones. Just like there are those who use money to dictate entitlement at the theater, there will be those who will say that they are vaccinated so it shouldn’t matter.

Thank God! Mr and Mrs Roxy will never see a show again!

Tourists from abroad also have proof of vaccination. I imagine that the league will except foreign proof. IE- the UK has a digital pass and a paper card.

That sounds very complicated. I'm not American and I assumed there was just one app for everyone in the US. I'm Dutch and here we just have an app that shows a QR code.

It works fine because no one is asking for proof except at Border controls. But France (and now Italy) are requiring very specific proof just to eat at a restaurant, and with no guidance, foreign tourists (and citizens vaccinated outside those countries) find it to be a crapshoot as to whether or not the CDC card or vaccination apps are accepted.

The concert venues I've attended have a two-stage process so perhaps theatres will do the same: one set of employees checks vax status and then you move on to being directed to your seat by another set of employees/ushers. Generally single-task workers move lines more quickly.
It is complicated because if we’re using things like the Excelsior pass that has a QR code to scan, there has to be technology that recognizes foreign QR codes, as well. OR the Excelsior pass needs to be updated for foreign tourists to recognize/register their vaccine.
Happy to see this, actually. I'd feel much more comfortable now.
And come on, aren't you a little excited to start collecting those show-branded masks? A Phantom face with the Phantom mask it? A mask with Bebe Neuwirth's Velma Kelly on it?

^ This. Living in Toronto I wouldn't be sure that ANY document from any country is good enough to not be denied entrance.
It’s probably going to be just as simple as someone walking down the line asking to see a card or an app it’s not going to be that deep.
Initially, I think they'll cut back on selling food and drinks. And you can only eat and drink in designated areas meaning not your seat.
Anyway, sounds great to me, let's gooooooo!
WOOT WOOT! I will feel a lot safer now, at least in the interim.
I hope musicians keep their masks on, except wind and brass players. They look badass.

The article I saw said the vaccine had to be approved by the FDA or by the World Health Organization so it appears they are already thinking about international tourists.
Apparently production will be contacting ticket holders about this, so once that happens, we'll get an idea of what type of proof is required. I have tickets for three shows the first weekend in November (I'm vaxxed) and am pretty sure I'll need to provide proof as well. No problem with that, but interested if I just need to buy a protector for my card or download an app.
I would hope, just to make things a bit simpler, all the theatre owners agree on specifics with respect to what type of proof is required. (come to think of it, I'll be going to a Shubert, Nederlander, and Jujamcyn theatre)

the Excelsior Pass needs to be updated for *American* tourists vaccinated in other states to recognize/register their vaccines.

Incorrect. The seats are the "designated area".

After reading this board (but before seeing this message) I went right to the Excelsior website to see if non-New York residents could use it (they can't). It might not be feasible for one app to be used in all states (all states have their own rules regarding medical privacy, etc), but it should be simpler to have a "reader" device which recognizes valid QR codes from other states and countries.
There is a question as to what happens in states which have banned the state from even issuing vaccine passports (even a privately developed program might need access to state health records). Then again, frankly, that's an issue for residents of those states to take up with their governors and legislatures.

Exactly -- this is only an issue with the "red states" -- and once the people in those states realize that they cannot participate in certain activities, we'll be amazed at how quickly their rules change.

Then stay home and stay miserable. If a doctor can perform a life saving surgery on your for twice that length while wearing a mask, you can sit through a show in one.
But speaking of the Excelsior Pass - does anyone else’s expire soon? Looks like mine is only valid for 6 months from when i got the 2nd jab.
Every essential worker has done this for more than a year now....and for far longer than the length of any bway show.
I have problem with this, whatsoever. Happy to comply.

My pass expires one year after my second dose… I updated my pass a few weeks ago.
