Just for fun, did any of you ever see this X Factor contestant (a UK talent show also judged by Simon Cowell) called Rhydian sing Phantom? I believe ALW has actually offered him the role in the West End:

If Syesha sings "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" she's done. She couldn't sing that high if she wanted to. I don't get her. She's off key in every performance.
I don't really get any of those contestants. Though I did like the Castro kid singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and I do like David Cook's arrangements. Everyone I know has a thing for David Archuleta, I think he has an okay voice but overdoes everything he sings, kid has no idea what the word subtext means.
I'd also like to see him sing with his eyes open.
Yeah, none of them really thrill me. I do like Brook White though.
I'm calling it right now. Brooke or, more likely, Jason will sing "I'd Be Suprisingly Good For You".
Think about it.
No Evita songs! I can't listen to them off-key!
I'm excited for this I can't wait to see who will do what and how they will do... But I really can't wait to see Lordy Lordy and how he is with them. Shold be some fun stuff
I personally think no one should sing "Superstar" it's not a good sing to show off your voice, since they still have to do a short version of the songs, that chorus is long and boreing and the main singer has little to do in the chorus.
I can see David Cook (if he wants to do something from Superstar) doing Heaven on their minds or even the one Simon does (cant remember the title) I dont think any of them should atempt gesthemanie (sp)
as for Castro, I thought "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" would be great for him.
Sayesha (sp) should do memory
Carly should stick to "I dont know how to love him"
as for David A. It may sound crazy, but for a while now I thought a nice R&B sultry soul version of Music of the Night could work well (think of if Usher or someone like that were to redo it)
Either way I just hope the night does not flop like the last time they had a Broadway night.
I am sure Simon will have alot to say tonight (since basically none of the songs are popular in mainstream culture)

My predictions:
Syesha: Another Suitcase in Another Hall
David A: Love Changes Everything
David C: The Phantom of the Opera
Brooke: I Don't Know How to Love Him
Jason: Any Dream Will Do
Carly: Memory
My predictions:
Jason, Sayesha, David A, and Brooke will suck.
David Cooke and Carly will be great.
I'm on to the pattern...........
:)
I definitely would like to hear Carly sing "Our Kind of Love" but it is so obscure it would probably get her voted off...
I see Syesha singing Buenos Aires, not Carly...
I think David A will sing Close Every Door....
Maybe David C. will sing Heaven on their minds... and I will die. I don't like him, he assassinated Mariah.
I've never watched the show, but I would be really impressed if someone actually picked a more obscure Webber song. In other words, nothing from "Cats." I might have a mild heart attack if one of the contestants picked something from Woman in White or Song and Dance.
My predictions
David A- "Any dream will do" or some "inspirational or message" ballad...thats the only thing he really sings...wouldn't be suprised if he did "Music of the Night"
David C- has to do something from Jesus Christ Superstar
Carly- would love to see her do "Take that look off your face"
Syesha- is going to do "Memories" or "I don't know How to Love him"
Brooke- should do "I don't know how to love him" or "Could we start again please"...could do "Tell me on a Sunday"
Jason- I have no idea...might do "Any dream will do" could do "I don't know how to love him" or "Could we start again please" probably something from Jesus Christ Superstar....although won't be suprised if he attempted something from Phantom
Apparently 3 people were fighting over one song, and they had to do a coin toss and Jason got it. I bet it was for Any Dream Will Do.
I want David A. to sing Close Every Door.
And Kristy had been slated to sing Don't Cry For Me, Argentina. Thank god she was kicked off.

"I think it's kind of ironic that they're having ALW on American Idol because Simon always says for people to stop sounding 'too Broadway.'"
Damn, you beat me to it! This does seem like an odd choice though. And I'm sure they've limited what songs they can chose from. I wonder if there will be any Sunset Boulevard.
Alliez...where did you hear the stuff about the coin toss and Kristy?

I am willing to bet somebody will end up singing at least one song originally written for the opposite sex.
Browsing the American Idol official message boards and the livejournal community. I was trying to look for spoilers.
From the lj community, "Note before I begin that there's a spoiler floating around that says that three contestants were ready to fight to the death for one song, and they drew straws and Castro got it."

Well, ALW did say the kids made some strange choices...
Still wondering about Brooke since he was taken with her the most.
I'm just grateful Kristi Lee Cook got the boot (sorry if you're a fan) because I read somewhere she was going to choose "Don't Cry For Me Argentina".
I have heard some really bad Evita's in my day, but Evita with a country twang would have been excruciating.

The thought of country twang Evita does make me giggle a bit though. :) It least would've been an entertaining trainwreck.

I think it'd be cool if David Cook sang "The Lady's Got Potential"
And I agree, I really don't want to hear any of these people sing ALW. Most of them are not Broadway-style singers, and his songs are very ballady and belty...not ideal for AI. If they wanted to have a Broadway night, they should bring in John Kander and do Kander and Ebb songs. Their songs are so much more accessible to these kinds of singers and probably a lot more enjoyable for an audience to listen to. You'd have selection from Chicago, Cabaret...even the film New York, New York, which includes the title song.
Looking to something more obscure, I think Brooke would do well with "Last Man In my Life" at the piano. She would also do well with "Nothing like I;ve ever Known" but that would probably put the average audience to sleep.
Was hopeing that somehow, on tomorow's show the cast does something from this Phantom 2 thing.

Knowing ALW, I wouldn't be suprised if they did. Maybe one of them will sing that song that he already wrote for it (years ago)... I forget the name of it.
