Matthew Broderick was just in "Plaza Suite" (Sweet)
I guess Dylan and Cole Sprouse are too young - Suite Life
Dick Van Dyke invented Toot Sweets in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Timothee Chalamet is known as "Sweet Tea"
Dick Van Dyke is too old to even lend Rose 88 cents.
Well, it was just announced that Rob McClure is checking out of the Mrs. Doubtfire tour early next month so ....
I can't believe we are teasing potential Herbies on a Wednesday night but here we are.
Anyone else see these guys in the silhouette?

He was in the “Honey Bun” number in South Pacific (which also fits the “drag” clue that was going around earlier).
Cmon Norbert!! Clearly they’re referencing Oh! Ain’t That Sweet from Thou Shalt Not! 😂
Y'all, as fun as these theories are, the "sweet" clue probably references Herbie's career as a candy salesman. It is probably nothing than that.
...My money is on Burstein. ;)
It’s probably the guy from the Zatarain’s box.
And we have our winner!

OH MY GOD!
He’s the perfect choice for this.
A little on the nose, I can already picture the performance. But a talent nonetheless
Danny will be great, no doubt but man, they really need a name for this revival. I don’t foresee it ending well, unfortunately.
When he goes on vacation will they get Boy George to fill in?
A friend of mine close to the production team was telling me that they were trying to court Paul Giamatti, but he wasn’t going to be able to commit to the whole run, only about half of it.
Design team also confirmed:
GYPSY will have scenic design by four-time Tony Award winner Santo Loquasto, costume design by four-time Tony Award nominee Toni-Leslie James, lighting design by nine-time Tony Award winner Jules Fisher + three-time Tony Award winner Peggy Eisenhauer, sound design by Tony Award winner Scott Lehrer, hair and wig design by Academy Award winner Mia Neal, makeup design by Michael Clifton, casting by Jordan Thaler CSA/Heidi Griffiths CSA, and production stage management by Rick Steiger.
and, cue the pearl clutchers:
additional orchestrations and arrangements by Tony Award winner Daryl Waters.
Santo Loquasto Is a welcome addition. The sets for the Lupone production were rickety so hoping for some substance here

He has MEMPHIS on his resume. Memphis is not too far from New Orleans...I'm just saying.

I’m neither a Gypsy fanboy, nor a Danny Burstein diehard, but since when did one of our finest, most consistently excellent musical theatre actors become “on the nose” for a role like Herbie? This feels like such a deeply online take.

Boy George is really more of a Miss Cratchit.

I’m sure it will be more substantial than the LuPone production
that production started at city center where they had no money, and then they were still struggling for money when it moved to Broadway and Laurents didn’t really care about the design, the performances were what mattered to him.

One the nose, meaning an obvious choice. Where did I insult him or his talent…quickly. I thoroughly enjoy him. I was expecting something a bit different. I’m sorry you disagree. I sometimes I enjoy a performance outside of our typical musical theater actors. If you think this is a deeply online take, you haven’t traversed far on the internet.

Burstein is perfect for the traditional interpretation for Herbie. But for a production that seems to be trying to reinvent this story and how we typically view it, this seems to go completely against that vision.
Saying casting is “on the nose” and that you can “already see his performance” doesn’t exactly imply you’re thrilled, but I also didn’t say you insulted him; you inferred that. Take your foot off the gas.
Your overreaction also feels deeply online, fwiw.
I’m literally not even the only person in the thread who said this lol. I just made a comment. And I never said I’m thrilled, you implied that :-/
Take a breath, enjoy the show!
