I last ran into Veanne right before Covid hit and I happened to be listening to the show. She got a kick out of that and will always be up for talking about it and how much she and everyone else treasure the experience. I hope she’s back on stage soon, she’s an exceptional talent.
I lost out on today's rush so I found some really well priced tix for tonight on TodaysTix. 1st row center mezzanine for $76. It looks like if one can wait the day of tix can be really a good deal.
For anyone that's done the $20 todaytix rush, what have your seats been like? I've been going between doing that or going for the $51 todaytix discounts on the day of show for side front mezz or rear side orchestra.
my rush ticket was rear mez on the side. it’s worth it to spend a bit more on one of their day of todaytix discounts imo. Seen it a couple of times now and enjoyed it much more up close!
I was there tonight and pretty much agree with most of the posters that this is an extraordinary evening of theatre. However, I do have one burning question that I need answered.
HOW MUCH FRIGGIN LAUNDRY CAN A FAMILY OF THREE ACTUALLY GO THROUGH TO JUSTIFY POOR CAROLINE'S INTERNMENT IN THAT BASEMENT PERGATORY ??????
Glad I got that off my chest. Other than that plot point it was quite a satisfying evening:)
LOL that is funny. But I always took the laundry as something she did every day around the time Noah got home from school since he lights her daily cigarette and, toward the end, hoped he could make it home from school before she started.
But I never took it as that’s all she does. “Cook and clean and mind that boy, doing housework doing laundry” So it’s just part of her job each day.
I never like being the voice of dissent on here, but Caroline, or Change did very little for me. Today was my first time seeing the show live and hearing the score in its entirety, and I really just didn't care for it at all.
The sounds design was ABYSMAL. The orchestra was way too loud and about 40% of the lyrics were garbled. I knew the pacing would be slow going in, but this afternoon dragged a lot. As of others mentioned, very little actually happens (especially in act 1). This usually doesn't bother me, but when a low paced and somewhat uneventful story is paired with a boring and ugly design and tuneless score, that just doesn't leave much left to enjoy.
I will say that I enjoyed act 2 much more than act 1. I REALLY wanted to like this going in, but at the of the day, I just don't think this show is my cup of tea. Still, I'm glad I saw it, and I am happy so many others have enjoyed it!

Haha, another different strokes thing. I went in this afternoon just to see Clarke for the most part. But I ended up falling under the spell of the show. I don’t think it’s something I would listen to repeatedly on a cast recording, but acted on a stage I was captivated.
I had no issues understanding the lyrics. I was in front mezz DD1, which has all the legroom in the world.
Just remembering you've had an "and"
When you're back to "or"
Makes the "or" mean more than it did before
Clarke was out of the show this afternoon. Got the email as I was walking to the theater - they were super cool about refunding me. REALLY wanted to see her. Oh Well.
Clarke is obviously a big reason and has a lot of well earned buzz - but don't miss the production. Seen both Clarke and Sharon Brown in the role. Brown knocked it out of the park and then some. So, anyone reading this, you will not be disappointed in the least if Clarke is out when you see it. They each bring something special, unique, and incredible to the stage. Each gave a once-in-a-lifetime type performance. Either way, you're seeing something special.
I wish I had left this show during intermission...it was 2-3 hours of pain for me.

TodayTix started their cyber sales today…I clicked the “rear orchestra side” option for $59, and the ticket I wound up buying turned out to be the last row in the center section of the orchestra, not even the side section. Take advantage quickly!!
I got a good seat from TKTS Friday night. I enjoyed the show. I had never seen a production nor listened to the score before. It is a challenging piece for sure. It is not a typical musical that draws its depth from having a deep plot. If you are looking for that, you will be disappointed. You have to really listen to the lyrics to process the themes the creators want you to think about, along with the actions of the characters. I did not like the set or lighting design at all. I understand it is Roundabout, but it looked very cheap. It might be a metaphor for the dreariness of some of the character's lives.
Sharon's not in today for the matinee or evening performance -
Please note, Sharon D Clarke will not appear on Saturday, November 27 (2 PM and 8 PM), Sunday, December 26 (1 PM and 7 PM), or Sunday, January 2 (1 PM and 7 PM).

I saw the matinee this past Saturday and still cannot get Sharon Brown’s performance of Lot’s Wife out of my head, she was just incredible. It almost irks me that she’s the standby because she was just so damn good. I’m strongly considering going back the day after Christmas to see her again, but I also think I’d like to see Sharon Clarke as well. As someone who can never make up his mind, this is definitely driving me a bit nuts!
