"Is it too late at this point for any current Broadway tour slated to play The Kennedy Center this season to back out of their engagement? I mean, I know Hamilton did. But, they weren’t scheduled to play there till next season."
The Kennedy Center is millions in debt and now an excellent box office attraction has cancelled costing them a bunch of money. "Hamilton" scheduled performances were going to be from Mar 3-Apr 26, 2026. Sure, the Kennedy Center gets funded other ways also but a big show like "Hamilton" sure helps the budget. It is going to be a long 4 years at the Kennedy Center if other shows do the same thing.
VP Vance and his wife were booed tonight when they entered the Kennedy Center. News flash to the liberals attending the event, Vance does not care and knows you hate him. All the booing is doing is adding "fodder" for FOX News and other conservative outlets showing how intolerant they believe the crowd attending the performance tonight was to the VP and his wife.

Excuse me if I don't feel too concerned about those who whine about "liberals" who are accused of "hate" and "intolerance" towards a member of most hateful and intolerant Presidential administration since Wilson.

Never said you or anybody else should be concerned. Just stated the obvious, outlet like FOX News will use the booing to promote their agenda.

If so, then it will be one of the rare instances that FOX News and other conservative outlets report the truth, because that's exactly how we feel about the VP and his wife. And I bet JD cares about he and his wife getting booed more than you think. Maybe it's just that he had to take a last-minute pee, but he was out of sight during the entire intermission and didn't return to his seat until the music had started again.

Agree to disagree. You don't get to where JD has gotten in life and let being booed bothered you. In fact, some people (especially athletes) sometimes use it as motivation against their opponents. Cmon, be honest do you really think JD and his wife expected a warm welcome - ha ha. I don't know about you but most intermission of shows I am gone from my seat almost the entire time, so I doubt JD was hiding.
I always love to play role reversal with people like yourself. Suppose a Democratic VP and significant other were booed by people at Kennedy Center event. Would you be ok with that? My guess is you would be outraged and calling the people booing all sorts of names.

Come on, you can't really believe that. Desperation to be loved & accepted and whining when it doesn't happen is a core tenet of modern conservatism. Vance (a man with a case Imposter Syndrome you can see from the Moon) demonstrated that himself a short time ago when he demanded President Zelenskyy act "more grateful" if the US was going to keep helping him fight the fascist army that's been trying to kill him for three years.
And as for your attempt at role reversal - Remember where "Let's Go Brandon" came from? Democrats didn't care - we over it within days.

You act like the administration has done nothing to the Kennedy Center specifically to.warrant the reaction... like...? Why are you being dumb?

You are kidding, I hope. The entertainment industry is liberal. JD and his wife are in the "Kennedy Center" which is named after a beloved Democratic POTUS. Trump has just "taking over" the Kennedy Center which to put it mildly is not popular and you think JD thought he was going to be "loved/accepted" by that audience. Really -lol

Wrong. I expected the audience to not boo and maybe show their displeasure at what has happened by being silent when Vance and his wife arrived. Instead of applause, silence would have sent message in a classier way but what do I know -lol

"And as for your attempt at role reversal - Remember where "Let's Go Brandon" came from?"
Sure do, it came from a TV sportscaster during interview at NASCAR race. She said she thought the crowd was chanting "Let's Go Brandon" for the winner of the race. They were saying something different, and it became a funny meme. Also, I am sure the people saying what they did were probably fairly intoxicated after NASCAR race. You want to compare audience at NASCAR race to Kennedy Center event crowd, ok

...and I'd take the Kennedy Center crowd over the NASCAR crowd any day. But I thought Vance, you, et al, were "free speech absolutists"? Oh wait, that was the other Vice President -- Musk.

Do you think that if Kamala Harris attended a public event where MAGA voters predominated - let's say a NASCAR race - that there wouldn't be a lot of booing?
I am absolutely certain there would be booing and public swearing and maybe worse.
[ETA: I see this has already been discussed. That'll teach me not to post before reading to the bottom of the page.]

OMG what a f*cking moron we have in #47!!
I sincerely hope that the unions (AEA, IATSE, SDC, AF of M, etc) will refuse to work at the Kennedy Center and that every tour booking is cancelled. They may take a small financial hit --- but enough is enough.

DT said this about The KC, "I’ve been hearing for a long time that they come here, and they’re disappointed when they come here. We want them to be excited.”
Um, I've been to The KC numerous times over the years and have never been disappointed. What the F is he talking about?
I'm still wondering how the POTUS can take over running The KC? Had no idea that the POTUS was even involved in the operation of the venue?

Yup, he’s a special kind of stupid. Also tacky, vulgar, and gross. Again, this gives him a prime opportunity to stick it to all the cultured elites who have flatly rejected him over the years. And his mouth-breathing followers are loving it all.

He cleared out the bipartisan board, packed it with cronies, and had them appoint himself chairman. Presidents are able to appoint and dismiss board members but operation of the KC has historically been bipartisan and apolitical and, frankly, not something presidents really ever concerned themselves with much. There was likely nothing specifically illegal about Trump's actions, but they go against precedent and tradition.

The press release said he wanted to "straighten out" the Kennedy Center Awards. Does that mean no more gay artists are eligible? Only "artists" who support his agenda can be nominated in the future? If so, call them the Trump Awards.
Lincoln Center should take over the National Arts Awards for Opera, Theatre, Symphony, Movies, Popular Music -- the Lincoln Center Jackie Kennedy Awards.

How can Trump hate Hamilton?!
The show features adultery, a crush on a relative, back room deals and it ends with an immigrant being shot.
What’s not for him to love??

His options for honorees for four years are limited. I can't imagine some of the people he wants honored actually accept it.
