Ah thanks, I assume that was probably something I could have easily found myself. Thanks again

Do they ever record these productions? Would love to hear Erivo's "Gethsemane."
This is at the Hollywood Bowl where basically anything goes, so I’m sure there will be lots of cellphone videos. You won’t get great quality, but you’ll be able to hear her.

Wait.. why are we hating on her ? What did I miss? Is it the holding space thing?

I think it’s the Okieriete Onaodowan thing. Or the to hide my eyes is to erase me thing. Pick your scandal.

Silly, regardless…would hardly consider either a scandal. Talk to me when she’s denying the Holocaust or selling shirts with swastikas on them. I’m not against abandoning an artist for their political beliefs, but I’m not going to waste my time on some bad PR nonsense.
What was the Okieriete Onaodowan thing?

She was very vocal about claiming it was purely racism when the producers of Great Comet were bringing in Mandy Patinkin for a short stint and sidelining Onaodowan, who was Groban's replacement, in an effort to boost a declining box office and keep the show running while they found another star who could replicate the numbers the show was pulling in while Groban was in the lead.
The outcry of racism eventually got Patinkin to withdraw from the show and it was decided to close it instead of continuing the search for a star replacement.

I’m very impressed by your succinctness and accuracy.
Well..I now remember all that. Not her best moment . I thought the whole movie poster incident was stupid as well. But I do enjoy her singing .

She’s talented, yes
She’s self-righteous, also yes
Dang, shame about Gad. Hope the cast had minimal exposure. I wonder if they'll get a name in to replace him or if they will need to put on an understudy.
I’m sure it will be easy to find a special guest to fill in- it’s a mostly spoken song with a vocal range of about five notes. You just need PRESENCE and comic timing.

Rumor that John Stamos is taking over.

So there's a video of Adam Lambert recording a single of "Heaven on Their Minds" due for release on August 1 (I think). Could that be an indication that this production is going to get a recording? Would sell a kidney to hear this cast perform this show.

Interesting. Probably the Ted Neeley tour for a year back in the Nineties was the last time Herod was an Elvis impression. Should almost smell fresh.

I'm hearing that was the original plan, but ALW has backed off on an initial vote of confidence at practically the eleventh hour (shades of the 2006 film reunion benefit, which also featured Ben Vereen and Jack Black, and Jesus Christ Superstar GOSPEL in 2009). The producers are pissed because they thought this production had enough "X" factor to either tour or go to Broadway, to the point that they were even building future prospects around Erivo's schedule. What I'm told is that ALW is instead banking on the success of two other high-profile iterations coming down the pike within the next couple of years.

there was no universe where this was going to Broadway, Erivo is BOOKED
As I said, my understanding was that they would work around her schedule, meaning it might be a year to two years (or more) down the line, but they were only interested in proceeding with her.
