They should have stayed in London for an extended run and then transferred this season. If only they had their time again.

Only 176 performances? That is crazy. It was a generally well-received production - not the hottest ticket of the season, but a good show. The economics of Broadway are ridiculous nowadays - a big musical has to come close to selling out every performance in order to make at least most of its money back and have a respectable run.
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
Kind of shocked by this even though their numbers haven't been very good. I thought they'd last until January, maybe holding out for some tourists around the holidays.
This is sad. Not surprising, but disappointing. I had been eying this show for my November trip to the city, but it looks like that really won't happen now. I loved the cast album, and Barrett Doss seemed like a real star. At least it will have a very good regional and community life, we might even have a couple high schools attempt it.
The writing was on the wall when ANDY KARL signed with a new agent ... he also recently updated his website LOL
But Man... this has been such a roller coaster journey that I'm left feeling kind of stunned.... the failed first preview ... the ACL ... the TONY loss (and that this announced the same day BEN PLATT said he's leaving!!!) what a crazy ride it has been!!!
I feel bad for MR KARL... despite excellent reviews and TONY noms this is another flop on his resume ... I wonder where he'll go next?
im devastated but relieved?? Ugh I dunno. .this must have been a stressful run for him and ORFEH.... I worry about him but hope he'll be back on Broadway soon!!!

I am SO disappointed . I was ready to see this in October. Very sad and wondering if I can somehow swing a weekend trip to NY before it closes. I should have seen it in May .

Didn't the article about his new agent say they're going to push him to do movies and TV? It's a shame his arc on SVU ended in a way that won't allow him to come back...
maybe he'll take time off, esp if ORFEH gets cast in PRETTY WOMAN?

OK, now I really need to lose the lottery for the Saturday matinee. If anyone is entered and doesn't win, keep me in mind. I want to sit in the front row once for this show... ;-(

Well he kept it open for about the same amount of time an A- lister Josh Groban did his musical.
