What are some shows that you consider to be mediocre/ bad/ even terrible that have had a a number or two that have struck you as been good or great? Here is my most recent example to get us started...
- Pretty Woman - You And I (the entire opera scene): While I enjoyed this show more than most, there is no denying that the show is far from perfect. However, I found this particular song and scene to be stunning. A great song (easily the best in the show) with great staging.
Agreed that the opera scene is the best part of Pretty Woman. It almost felt like they had a completely different team come in for that one scene, since it stood out as so good compared to the rest of the show.
One that comes to mind: I thought Prince of Broadway was generally terrible, but I still think about Tony Yazbeck's thrilling take on "The Right Girl."

It really did feel like there a different team working on that number, because it was SO great. Sadly, I saw Yazbek's understudy when I saw Prince of Broadway, but I heard nothing but great things about Yazbek. I loved him in both On The Town and Finding Neverland.

i despise be more chill but smartphone hour, michael in the bathroom, and more than survive are songs that are so catchy.
I recently read the libretto to BALLROOM and, woof, was that a terrible book.
However, I still think "Fifty Percent" is one of the greatest ballads in musical theatre.

I personally actually really enjoy the show; I saw the national tour a few nights ago and was just floored by it. It's such a spectacle, and the cast was incredible. Say what you want about the plot, though. I understand why people, especially longtime POTO fans hate this show as much as they do. That's just me.

It Shoulda Been You has a couple of bangers. Immediately coming to mind are "Back in the Day", "Albert's Turn", and the title song, which includes one of my favorite lyrics:

On the other side of the coin, COME FROM AWAY is an excellent show with a score that was merely serviceable.
“With You” from Ghost. I don’t HATE the show but I have a lot of problems with it (haven’t seen it since the first Broadway preview) but dammit, that is one of my favorite musical theatre songs.

Wholeheartedly endorse a lot that's already been posted, but I'll add:
"It's Your Wedding Day" from THE WEDDING SINGER
"We'll Take a Glass Together" from GRAND HOTEL (a score which I have come to appreciate a LOT more since last year's wonderful ENCORES production)
....and let me just agree that GHOST's "With You" really IS a great theatre song.
