Wow - this morning I caught a clip of Kerry Washington singing in a Christmas special - along with a snippet of her singing in the film version of The Prom - and I think she’d be a fabulous witch!

Jake Gyllenhaal as the Baker
Just posting it here on my 'virtual vision board' in the hopes it may manifest itself

Jake has something like a dozen films in the works, a lot having been postponed over the past couple years so I sadly doubt any theater is in his plans for the next couple years. I’d obviously love to be wrong, but looking at his schedule I’d doubt it could be possible ![]()

Joshua will be opening for Diana Ross at the Hollywood Bowl during his absence and I couldn’t be more excited for him!

Even if his schedule allowed it I’d be hard pressed to believe that a celebrity of that caliber would ever replace. Now, Anna Leigh Ashford as the the Baker’s Wife I would believe in and sign up for!

He is 61 years old. Kind of past the point, don't you think? Darcy at 54 is pushing it, in my opinion.
And I think he can do warm characters really well, fwiw, ljay889 :)

I'm imaging Cerveris singing "it takes two" as Sweeney or Booth and it's making me chuckle. It takes TWOOO, I thought ONE was enough it's NOT TRUEEEE....it takes PATIENCE and FEARRRRR and DESPAIRRRRRRRR

Exactly. Cerveris never seems to lead with heart! That would be a much darker take on the Baker. Haha

Denis O'Hare was No spring chicken when he played the role! Personally, Cerveris reads young to me.

If you mean the one at the Delacorte in 2012, he was 50.

I was kind of hoping Audra would be on the short list for the Witch but now she'll be busy.

He would, but it’d seem a bit odd that any woman would cheat on such a tall, muscular hunk.

Pfffffft. Plenty of people would if their personality was a milquetoast and overprotective as the Baker

Brian D’Arcy James is 54? Wow, that makes ME feel old. I remember seeing him in Titanic when I was in high school and he was just starting his career. He looks much younger.
Having watched a bootleg of the Central Park production, I agree that Denis O’Hare read as way too old for the role. His performance was just odd in general, although he’s obviously a great actor.
The Baker and his wife should both be played as around 30 or 35 years old in my opinion.

My thoughts exactly re O’Hare. Ultimately, I did come to love the performance after a few viewings.
Betty22: Can you clarify what’s coming in next (or scheduled, at least).
