Groff is the only current leading man I want to see take on this role. I think the production rises or falls on its leads. I can't say I was too, too confident in Grande and Bailey, but was hoping to be pleasantly surprised. Groff would be excellent. He has the same excitement in those tenor notes that Mandy Patinkin does, where the general tenor of his voice makes you think he won't be able to hit them, and then he knocks it out of the park.

I predicted he would drop out. I never thought he had a strong enough voice for it. I was surprised he agreed to do it in the first place.

To be honest, that doesn't sound bad to me at all. The roll is vocally much more in his wheelhouse than Sweeney Todd was (and I liked him in that), and he seems to specialize in characters with a sort of emotional distance - an inability to connect, if you will.

Paul Mescal if he wasn’t committed to Death of a Salesman. Not sure how well he would sing it but acting wise he would nail it.

I’d have no desire to see Platt in “Sunday” but he is currently giving the best performance I’ve ever seen him give in “Midnight at the Never Get” at The Menier. If that show can someone come over to NYC, I’d imagine he’d have a great shot at another Tony Award.

Agree 100%. Bummed about Bailey. Wouldn't mind Garfield, but will be happy to see any strong mounting of a London production of Sunday.
