BoringBoredBoard40 asked: "So what exactly are these reviews going to change going forward?"
Hard to know for sure, but these kind of uniformly positive to rave reviews usually help build buzz and greater public awareness. And more people talking often gets more people in seats, which if they like the show as much as the reviews, gets more people talking and more people in seats.
It could be the slow and steady build to what hopefully ends up being a reasonably healthy run in an environment that is still challenging. The show could be a great option for families with teens in town for the holidays the next two months.
Like others, I have mixed feelings about the artwork, but I really wish they would add a more descriptive tagline than "a new musical." If the only thing people see is a large image of the show, I'd prefer text that also hints at what it is about, a "hook" of sorts.
If shows like Fun Home and The Band’s Visit can find success, then so can Kimberly Akimbo- a show that, despite its quirky concept, is far more of a crowd pleaser. Why must people immediately start treating it like its title character- as something living on borrowed time?

These reviews are so well deserved, but in a market that reviews mean less and less, don't know how much it'll help them. Their grosses have been an upward trajectory, so hopefully this is enough to put it over for a healthy several-month run. This isn't going to be long for this world regardless as Green notes in his review.
I wish I had used my last show slot for my trip next weekend for this instead of Some Like It Hot…

Because market conditions aren't the same now as they were in 2015 and 2018, maybe? It's pretty understandable that folks (even critics) acknowledge reality. And even for the shows you mention, they too were living on borrowed time because of the nature of their subject matter and general execution. That's not to say it doesn't deserve a long run.

I'm not sure I see people suggesting the show is "on borrowed time" as much as reacting to what up until this point have been lackluster ticket sales and hoping they get better.

Deserving enthusiastic raves for the best new musical of the season. Let the producers do their job to build an audience and capitalize on the reviews, and if you're that concerned about a good show surviving a difficult season then go purchase a ticket for yourself and a friend.
Well, it looks like at least for tonight it’s sold out, and the weekend looks pretty full as well. Also noticed ticket prices went up ever so slightly.

I am far from a Tesori fan, but have always loved Clark, and these reviews made me bite the bullet and get a pair of tickets for early next year (and I'm not in New York that often). Call me a data point.
I’m so happy to see these reviews! The show completely deserves it and is a must see. I really hope this helps keep it running so it can make it to the Tonys and win Best Musical.

NYT reviews makes it sound like this show is going to close very soon.
I didn't think I've ever read anything like it......
For those who are coming to the City around the holidays and want to squeeze in as many shows as possible, this gem of a show has Friday 2pm matinees November 25th and December 16th, 23rd, and 30th.
It's not on borrowed time. It's a risky new musical that the producers believe it. It will appeal to the savvy NYC theater crowd, and hopefully from there get some savvy tourists and eventually win Best New Musical and flip a profit. The producers know what they're doing. They chose the specific theater, the specific time to open. Whether or not it works out, we'll see.
Happy - and not surprised - the show got such glowing reviews and look forward to seeing it on my next trip.
Unsure why producers wouldn’t have opened this in the spring, on the cusp of awards season. Knowing they were pretty much guaranteed raves. Now they have to deal with the winter slump and trying desperately to fill the house during the quietest time on bdwy.
Not sure if theatre availability might hate been a factor? Not sure how many similarly-sized theatres were/are available that they would have had an option to pursue if they waited until spring.

Saw the show last night and BOY I know opening was on the 10th but last night felt like a opening, Victoria got a VERY long entrance applause and the audience was just like a rock concert all night (the VERY large high school group in the orchestra probably had something to do with this)
It was pretty much SRO last night (and as someone in that position you really don't miss much except part of the skater world sign when it drops down) and for reference it is $42 for standing room and they will sell it when the show is CLOSE to sold out (I walked up about half an hour before curtain)
From off-broadway to broadway the show has become richer, the end of act one is even better with the new song. My only feeling is the set design still doesn't really do it for me but thats a small note when the rest of the production soars, Victoria and Bonnie absolutely will be tough to beat come TONY time and the book seems like a lock
Steve Boyer was out, considering he was at opening night I assume he must be filming something as his understudy Jim Hogan was on as Buddy and has been on and off all week apparently, he was very good and plays the character somewhat differently from Boyer, more off a drunk goofball versus boyer whoses take atleast off-broadway was a bit more bitter. Miguel Gil was on for Aaron and was also charming and fun to see
I don't know what the future holds for this but I am glad to have seen it when I did

No discount codes work any more and premium on Telecharge is up around $500 when I looked for tomorrow. Going to TKTS as they increased their prices too much based on reviews

Its on TKTS this weekend (as are most shows right now)
A friend took advantage of the $74 lottery losers’ offer on Telecharge for tomorrow afternoon.
When will the tickets be emailed? And what should they do if they don’t receive the email?
Rushed this morning because I absolutely want my sister and Mom to see this show while they're in town (it will be round 3 for me)!
We got there around 8:15 and were 8th and 9th in line. By 10:00 there was big line! It was hard to tell how many there were, but I'd put it in the ballpark of 40-50 people.
We got the last 3 rush tickets for the evening show. I think there must have been around 15.
It was amazing to see so much love for this show! Can't wait for tonight!

💯 had to do with availability. the Booth is a prime house - great location and size for a show like this. They wouldn’t want the risk of losing their desired house or having to make the show work in a much larger space. Plus this way it’s easier to sell out and create word of mouth.
