Austin Durant rejoins the Broadway company as Zidler on May 14, and Hailee Kaleem Wright joins as the Satine alternate that same day.

Hailee Kaleem Wright from Six has been announced as the new Satine alternate, taking over from Oyoyo Joi.
There is a rumor going around that Oyoyo Joi will be announced soon as Broadway’s next Juliet in & Juliet (still a rumor). Would love to see her either as lead Satine or as Juliet, she’s unbelievably talented.
That aside, Hailee will be a fantastic Satine and I’m so excited for her continued success on BWAY.
Anyone know how long Derek Klena's contract is for? Have some family members who'd like to see the show at some point, but Klena is not my cuppa so I'd prefer to hold off and see who the next Christian is if I can.

Does anyone knows if Derek is back or when will he be back? I think he's out since saturday.
Hailee Kaleem Wright had her first performance as the Satine alternate yesterday and it looks like she was wearing a different costume for bows than normal. I know the tour recently changed the bow costume, so I’m curious if they are making the change to the Broadway production.

The amount of money they must be throwing at Aaron to get him to come back must be staggering.
Well, this will get me back to see it again, one more time...Aaron's singing in this is thrilling...
Who do I have to make nasty with for them to stop recycling Christians and get some new ones?
Aaron is the best of the pretty white boy brigade they have going, but good lord, are they just not even trying to find new faces?

Moulin Rouge’s sales have historically lagged over the summer. This is a distinct effort to counteract that. It’s not a cheap show to run with a break even probably north of $1mil, so they can’t lose money all summer every year and keep running along. But yes, there are so many more interesting choices they could make with these two roles, but I gave up on that when they proved they were never going to give a Black Satine the role full time despite multiple opportunities to do so with their incredible understudies.

This will provide the boost the show needs for sure. With N2N likely postponing their transfer (yes, I am willing Aaron to be Dan when it does), the producers were smart to bring him in for a much needed boost. Given The Notebook’s likely fate, John Cardozo could be ready to step in with a new Satine mid-October. .

Fingers crossed they promote Hailee, the current standby. I've only heard good things!

Can and will cosign. I booked a Sunday show just to see her specially (we love Black women) and she is amazing. I've seen a few different casts, and she and Jojo are by far my favourite Satines.

That is a ridiculous take. London has had 2 full time Black Satines so far.
Just ONCE I'd like to see a casting announcement for this show that doesn't make me yawn.

Does anyone have an idea how many performances Aaron Tveit has racked up in ''Moulin Rouge!''? He opened the show, reopened it after the COVID hiatus and has done two past return engagements. I've now seen ''Moulin Rouge!'' multiple times on Broadway and on the road, so I've seen about a half-dozen guys play Christian, some of whom have been very good. But Aaron is still the definitive Christian. I'm so happy he won the Tony for what's become his signature part and that he enjoys returning to the role. Updated On: 6/20/24 at 11:20 PM

You'd have to find a very, very dedicated Aaron fan to calculate that
I’m not a dedicated Aaron fan, but it’s not too hard to figure out. He departed the show shortly after its 500th performance in 2022, then returned for 12 weeks in 2023. Considering the fact that he’s known for hardly ever calling out, I’d estimate that he’s somewhere in the upper 500s. Now for an exact number, that would definitely take a devoted fan!

Saw the show last night for the first. I really did not care for it. Derek was straining a bit (nothing major though) and Courtney Reed sounded really rough. I thought both of their acting was pretty good - nothing mind blowing. I would love to see Aaron and Jojo, but I don't feel like sitting through that again.

Armpits nails it yet again: John Cardoza, Solea Pfeiffer, and Pepe Muñoz begin as Christian, Satine, and Santiago in the Broadway company October 15.

Solea as Satine is brilliant casting. She's going to kill it.
I love this casting, but I’m not sure how this will help with sales.

I really didn't need to see Moulin Rouge again, but Solea was probably one of the only people that could've gotten me to go, ugh. This is so exciting for her though, I think she's been slowly building a name with all her appearances (and I heard multiple people at intermission at Gatsby say that she was their favorite part).
