Let's face it: the best cast this show had was the original. PERIOD! I feel sad that the continued stunt casting will eventually lead to the show closing. Hey, 5 years ain't that bad though but I would hate to see this show go.

Moulin Rouge needs a stronger Christian. Casey's acting is pretty good but his singing is too weak so that I started to think about something else when he sings, even though Moulin Rouge is my favorite musical. I have seen no one say this yet, but I think the next Christian has to be Colton Ryan. He fits the character and his singing will blow off the roof.

Casey is…not good. His acting is passable, but his singing is nowhere even near the basic par it needs to be to be successful in this role. He has all the comportment of a high school jock self-consciously faking his way through a musical - I could see him mentally preparing whenever a higher note was coming up. The worst part was his duets with Courtney, because you could hear her having to lower her power to match his and it was detrimental - though she shined vocally (not so much the acting, but again, probably going to blame Casey for being a bad scene partner).
Tituss is less menacing than his predecessors and more cheeky - he had his moments to shine (especially Chandelier), but I think he had quite a few mics issues today because it was hard to hear him at times and that is not a man who has a low setting on his volume button. Also, David Harris is DADDY - I have never rooted for a Duke in my life"
That's how I felt about Tam Mutu - like why is Satine going for Christian when she could have him?!

I doubt he'd replace unless they throw a lot of money at him.

God, my brain is broken. I thought you meant Conor Ryan from the tour. Honestly, given how little Colton meant to the NY NY box office, they might as well bring in Conor and stunt cast the other roles.
I’m pretty sure there are a flurry of talented POC actors who could do the role justice. It doesn’t need to be the plain white matinee idol-esque tenor.
Off the top of my head some possibilities: Austin Scott, Matt Manuel, Jelani Alladin, and Cameron Loyal (who would also be a great Duke) all have soaring voices and could EASILY be a good romantic lead. Hell, even Justin Guarini could probably pull it off too if ONCE UPON… was any indicator of his level of performance.

I’ve noticed a recent trend of posts being moderated regarding certain casting decisions for the iconic role of Zidler in our beloved Moulin Rouge. While I understand and respect the guidelines of our community, I feel compelled to express a general thought on casting choices.
Broadway has always been a beacon of diverse and dynamic talent, and it thrives on the principle that no single performer is bigger than the show itself. It is vital to recognize that there are numerous talented and commendable artists capable of bringing the sparkle and pizzazz to Zidler’s character. These artists can captivate audiences with their unique flair, without any overshadowing off-stage narratives.
It’s essential for the integrity of the arts, and the safety and comfort of all involved, that our discussions and support as fans reflect our commitment to the wellbeing of the community and the enduring success of the productions we love.
Let’s continue to celebrate and advocate for a stage that welcomes a rich tapestry of performers who can uphold the spirit of the theatre, ensuring that the show goes on with both vibrance and virtue.

I love Boy George, I do, but I really can't imagine him having the physical or verbal stamina to do this 8 times a week. He barely could muster if to show up to Taboo, and he basically just had to stand there and sing a few songs.

I strongly disagree. I recently saw him live at the Hollywood Bowl and he sounded fantastic - and way too much ad-libbing for it to be a lipsynched. And because his run in Moulin Rouge will be relatively short, you can bet he will put everything he has into it. Taboo was 20+ years ago, and he was in a totally different head space. I think he is going to be fantastic!!

On ''Saturday Night Live,'' Ariana Grande and Bowen Yang spoofed ''Moulin Rouge!'' with a medley that includes a ''Wicked'' little riff from their forthcoming movie musical.
