The performance started a few minutes later than usual (I want to say around 2:12pm), and, yes, about 5 minutes in Jodie Comer apologized to the audience and said she couldn't breathe in this air. She exited the stage, they made an announcement that they would be holding, and the curtain was brought back down. About 20 minutes later (at around 2:40pm), they said that they were planning on resuming at 2:45pm, with Dani Arlington going on. At this point, many in the audience began booing, with one man shouting "I object!," and the mass exodus began. The aisles were backed up with so many people leaving, and they didn't end up restarting the performance until around 3pm.
I understand the disappointment in not being able to see Comer perform, but the booing was disheartening. Comer was doing what she felt she needed to do to keep herself safe, and Arlington was stepping up to help make sure that the show could still go on. I don't envy the position of either of them, and wish there had been a bit more respect displayed from the audience this afternoon.
As for the show, I thought Arlington was wonderful (and also enjoyed Comer in the five minutes of her performance that I saw), and thought the entire piece was well paced and well-designed. I really enjoyed the way music was used throughout the show, even starting from the preshow. I hadn't been planning on catching this, but I'm glad I was able to, even if the circumstances surrounding this afternoon's performance were a bit chaotic."
I'm glad you enjoyed the show, but geez, people are terrible. I mean, I'm certainly not surprised, but this is still sad to hear. Be disappointed, get your refund, but don't ****ing boo when someone can't carry on for health reasons. Ugh, people. I hope the audience who stayed were appreciative to Arlington.
