RENT was highly commercialized the minute it moved to the Nederlander.

Totally agree -- was just commenting on that with my friend. We discussed how, in a way, the 2019 RENT reflects the highly commercialized and polished NYC of 2019, compared to the grittier, more real NYC of the 90s matched more by the original production.
Does anyone have any idea how I could watch this in the UK?
Thanks! "
You'll need to 1) trick your internet browser into thinking you're in the US (look for articles online; it may take some troubleshooting but it's doable), and 2) visit https://www.fox.com/live/. It may be just streaming on there, but you may need a cable login (in which case, you should ask an American friend).

Is anyone going to the taping? I just found that I am and I am curious what to expect.
"I never had theatre producers run after me. Some people want to make more Broadway shows out of movies. But Elliot and I aren't going to do Batman: The Musical." - Julie Taymor 1999
Idina posted too with signs that read IM, DRV, and FW... If this was supposed to be a surprise that the original cast is taking part in some way, theyre not very good at keeping secrets...

Bad audio as they will be miked for the cameras so their voices won’t be blasting on speakers to avoid feedback. You’ll barely hear them from where you’re sitting.
Enjoy the excitement of being there. If you’re hoping to experience it like at a theatre, you’ll be quite disappointed.
someone please enlighten me. daphne was supposedly hosting a watch party in ny that everyone bought tickets for...when were they informed that she wouldnt be there? this would have been our first clue to the obc appearing...

That's not true at all. In 1996, Bloomingdale's had a clothing line inspired by (and endorsed by) the original Broadway production of RENT. In 1999, the Canadian cast of RENT were featured on the cover of a flyer for The Bay, one of Canada's largest department stores. The Bay's parent company, Hudson's Bay Company, now owns Saks Fifth Avenue. So in actuality, absolutely nothing has changed. RENT has always claimed to be gritty while being very commercialized. I love RENT, but let's not pretend it's not in the same business as any other show.
According to someone on reddit who claims to have been on the run-through, they removed all f***s, some s***s and stuff like that. Contact still in. The guy playing Roger sprained his ankle during What You Own and after a 20 minute stop, he decided to come out and finish the show sitting on a table. Apparently Seasons of Love B is a goner.
4 new songs from the soundtrack are available for listening. RENT sounds bland. Mark and Roger sound very much alike. The girl playing Mimi rocks the hell out of Out tonight. Brava! Maureen sounds like Minnie mouse. She has the chops, though.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I’m not finding the event on their website anymore so maybe it was cancelled?
Edit: Disregard. I found it. And she’s still listed as hosting.
