I want to echo this. I really wish Sam was nominated. I know a lot of people didn’t expect him too, but the more times I see him the more I fall in love with him. His facial expressions are remarkable. Though, for my own selfish reasons of wanting HP to have been the one to break the record, I wish they were nominated for just one more category. I was hoping for Imogen Heap for orchestrations!!!
I agree about Lee Pace. He was great in the part, and it's very, very hard to stop staring at his perfect face and body as well. Oh well. A lot of people thought he was just too cold in the part. But, I think that's how he is supposed to be played?

Unfortunately, your experience is typical around here. This board includes quite a few individuals who seem to have no other purpose than to fire off b*tchy retorts, so they can feel superior and oh-so-clever behind the safety firewall of internet anonymity. I highly recommend the "block user" feature; it will make your time here far more enjoyable and productive.

"Michael Riedel...The Perez Hilton of the New York Theatre scene" - Craig Hepworth, What's On Stage
I don't find this to have been a snub. I find this to have been accurate. I watched thinking "wow, the stage seems so empty, they just seem to be running around lots of empty space." I'm no expert, but I was not impressed.
Yes! Patti Murin is carrying a lot of this show! Too bad she can't split some of that with Kevin Del Aguila who only has 15 minutes or so and should have so much more! Olaf is great too.

Honestly, I never thought much of the cast of OOTI, can you please tell me why everyone thinks they are remarkable besides the fact that they gender-bent characters?

I was surprised that Kenita Miller was not nominated. For OOTI. Her performance caught me off guard and during the curtain call it hit me how powerful she was.

Different categories.
"Oh look at the time, three more intelligent plays just closed and THE ADDAMS FAMILY made another million dollars" -Jackie Hoffman, Broadway.com Audience Awards
I feel like Boykin and Miller have one singular moment in the show and they do it together. Without one or the other, that song doesn't work. So it's hard to single one of them out for a nomination. And Miller is wonderful, but she sings Ti Moune and then is basically ensemble for the rest of the show? I don't know where this extreme campaigning for her came from, when it's such a small part, but I'll never be mad about a wonderful talent getting recognition!
Also, agree that Amy Schumer was great. People just want her to fail, but I was impressed how, after the initial shock wore off, she wasn't just Amy Schumer playing Amy Schumer, you know? Also, who was snubbed in that category you think deserved a nomination over her? It wasn't that competitive of a category, which is why there were only 4 slots.
Schumer benefited from a very thin pool of eligible nominees. Had the woman from The Children been eligible in the category, I doubt she would've made the cut.
Alex Newell is the major missing name for me. "Mama Will Provide" is not only the highlight of the show, but maybe the best number of the season. Fortunately, it's been preserved in television appearances- and fingers crossed it's the production's number at the awards.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
Perhaps my original statement should have been Laura Benanti deserved a nomination, regardless of Amy Schumer getting one or not.
I don’t think Schumer was bad in it, and I certainly don’t want her to fail, but in my opinion she was only ok, while Benanti was dynamite... whenever I think back on the show, the most memorable parts were Benanti’s... she stole the show. For me.

Who would you take out and replace with Benanti? I’m curious where Benanti would have fallen among Allison Pill [“Three Tall Women”] and Bel Powley [“Lobby Hero”], both of whom I assume barely missed nominations considering the overall support for their shows.

I can’t really answer that as I missed The Children and I’m yet to see Harry Potter and Three Tall Women... I get it that for her to be nominated someone would have to be bumped off... or just have 6 nominees like lead actress in a musical?!

What ever happened to class? If you can't say something constructive, keep your snarky comment to yourself.

I know it's heresy, but I wasn't that impressed with his performance when I watched it on TV. I'm sure it's different in person, but when I watched the performance, there didn't seem to be anything there beyond good vocals. For most of the song, there was absolutely nothing going on in his face. Maybe a sidelong glance at Hailey every now and again, but he wasn't really emoting anything. It seemed like he was just performing the song and not actually acting. Left me feeling cold.
I do enjoy the song whenever I listen to the cast recording (which is often), but if you can't make all that energy and vitality translate in your body and your face, then all the vocal prowess in the world is of no service to you.

I agree. It inspired me to watch Lillias White from the Tony Awards.
