Last year, Gideon Glick was snubbed of a nomination in Lead Actor in a Play for his superb performance in “Significant Other.” In-fact, the entire production was shut out of nominations at the Tonys. In my opinion, Glick being left off was so egregious that it diminished the prestige of being nominated for and/or winning a Tony.
What snub or snubs deserve a mention this year?
I think the one that keeps coming up the most in the reactions-thread is James McArdle in Featured Actor in a Play for his portrayal of ‘Louis Ironson’ in “Angels in America.”

Ha! That's quite a bold statement!I can picture it now: future Tony winners for years to come will feel no sense of accomplishment whatsoever, because the credibility of the Tonys was ruined when that one guy from that one short-lived play that one year didn't get nominated.
Don't get me wrong - I can relate to that feeling. It was Glick for you, but I'm sure we all have that one snub somewhere in Tony history that made us lose faith in them. But you have to keep reminding yourself that it's all just people's subjective opinions.
Seems to be the philosophy on this board the Tonys only have credibility as long as their opinion aligns with your own.
I’m surprised Kate Rockwell wasn’t nominated. I was no fan of Mean Girls, the show, but the performances - particularly from the Plastics - were uniformly fantastic. Kate Rockwell was the standout in the cast, so she’s my biggest snub of the year.

Gideon has gotten over it and moved on. Maybe you should, as well?

That may be the philosophy on this board, but it’s not one I personally hold. I should reword my statement... What I meant was it diminished Kevin Kline winning because I felt like he wasn’t up against the best of the best. My top three were Glick, Denis Arndt for “Heisenberg,” and Nathan Lane for “The Front Page” (who should have been in Lead instead of Featured). It would be like if Cynthia Erivo wasn’t nominated in Musical Lead Actress in 2016... Carmen Cusack would have likely won for “Bright Star,” but she wouldn’t have won against what many would have considered her top competition. It’s happened at several awards shows. Ben Affleck being snubbed of a Director nom for “Argo” at the Oscars. Elizabeth Mitchell being snubbed of a Drama Supporting Actress nom for the third season of “Lost” at the Primetime Emmys. Etc etc etc.

I’m relatively new at these boards. This is the first time I’ve been on the receiving end of a snarky comment. I probably should just delete the thread. Wasn’t trying to ruffle any feathers. I was just curious what win-worthy performances didn’t even land a nomination.
Kate Rockwell is the biggest "snub" for me this year as well. Don't get me wrong, I'm really not a Mean Girls fan, but her performance was the very best part of the production.

I loved Mean Girls & agree that she was the best part. I still laugh thinking about some of her lines!
I hear how you feel (even if I wasn't a fan of Sig. Other) but I've always thought that the Tony's are pretty much the producers patting themselves on the back and spreading the joy to as many productions as they can so they all make $$$. Call me jaded.
I may be in the minority but I actually enjoyed Lee Pace’s performance in Angels in America more than McArdle’s. I’m mainly annoyed they picked Michael Cera over Pace or McArdle. Michael Cera wasn’t bad but he wasn’t better than McArdle or Pace.

It's one thing to say you really thought he was deserving and were very disappointed he wasn't nominated. That's fine. But when you start talking about the whole award being diminished cause your personal favorite wasn't nominated, you're going (IMHO) over the top and are begging for a snarky response. That's not just true of this board. It's true of social media in general. One of the things that constantly fascinates me here are the folks who on something as incredibly subjective as a theatrical performance, simply can't fathom how Tony voters could possibly disagree with them about who should have been nominated/won a Tony. it's just so clear to them, how can everyone else not see it.

I apologize. I really didn’t mean to go so over the top. All I meant was it would have been on the same level of Garfield and/or Parker being snubbed of a nom in Lead Actor in a Play this year... or Glenda Jackson snubbed of a nom in Lead Actress in a Play... Performances that are considered win-worthy then somehow don’t even land the nomination. Then one of the winners would have been Hollander / Rylance / Washington and Rashad / Ridloff / Schumer, which is fine, but with the understanding that they won in a category where the most celebrated performances didn’t even get nominated.
If ever post here again, I’ll try to articulate my point better. You guys and girls don’t mess around here.
I'm going to second every mention for Kate Rockwell and James McArdle, and throw in Allison Pill for Three Tall Women and Laura Benanti for Meteor Shower
It would have taken some creativity on the Tony committee's part, but I would have loved to see a joint nomination for Sam Crane and Iestyn Davies, who shared the part of Farinelli in Farinelli and the King, for best featured actor in a play.
I totally understand the OP's use of hyperbole. There are some snubs you don't get over. For me, it was Kristin Chenoweth for The Apple Tree being snubbed in favor of Laura Bell Bundy in Legally Blonde. It's been like 13 years and I still don't get that.

I want to echo this. I really wish Sam was nominated. I know a lot of people didn’t expect him too, but the more times I see him the more I fall in love with him. His facial expressions are remarkable. Though, for my own selfish reasons of wanting HP to have been the one to break the record, I wish they were nominated for just one more category. I was hoping for Imogen Heap for orchestrations!!!
