Wednesday and Thursday evening screenings filled up FAST fast here in the city. Thankfully, the AMC Magic Johnson is always the last to fill up, so snagged a few seats there for Thursday. Cannot wait.
I really wanted one of those Lincoln Center imax seats but I think everything went on sale a few minutes early! I opened my browser at like 8:26 and 80% of the Wednesday 6:30 showing had already been sold.

If you listen to the recent Sentimental Men podcast episode, they talk about two different screenings that they went to. Listening to it now, actually.

It’s one of the best movie theaters in the country but only if you’re in the last ~4 rows (as close to the center as possible). Seats will probably open up on the sides and down front; those should be avoided at all costs!!
I think I saw something somewhere that confirms that Sharon D. Clarke is playing the voice of the mid-wife (who's supposedly a bear in this version but someone can correct me on this) and Courtney-Mae Briggs is the one playing Mrs. Thropp.

Something Bad is a bit lame but one of the few songs that actually keeps the plot moving along. They are both short. Because of the film being split into two parts, I’m not surprised they made no cuts to the score. I’m a bit pleased we will get a full new recording of the score, even with the clunkers.
I was expecting Something Bad to get cut since it's relatively short and despite it being a plot point, it can easily be replaced with dialogue. Also there could be a possibility of an anthropomorphic singing goat being cheesy. I assumed Sentimental Man was staying in just to give Jeff Goldblum more to do
I'm glad that we got one TV Spot at least shows the singing this time around. That "Defying Gravity" shot near the end though is beyond stunning, Alice Brooks' cinematography is not playing around. The tracklist is about what I expected, and I'm sure the long running time has to do with the brand-new material in the script.
Universal has gone big with the marketing for Wicked, which is something the studio hadn't done for any of their movie musicals as far as I can tell.
