It was very sad and strange that The Bridges of Madison County won the Tony for Best Score and didn't perform at the show.

I thought only best musical and best revival of musical nominees only perform.

Agreed. I'd love to see Cynthia do "I'm Here" and Jessie Mueller do "She Used to Be Mine" - let these ladies wow a larger audience with their showstoppers.

i LOVE the suggestion abpve of the Schuyler Sisters (edited down, likely) leading into My Shot (lin) or Room (leslie)........as a purely glorious theatrical And "thank you nyc moment", i can't imagine them missing the button of "the greatest city in the world!"  Work!

Whatever chosen, CBS is going to hold the Hamilton number until later in the evenin. To hold the channel changers right?  Is there a practical consideration of how many costumes to lug over?   Or the army of seat fillers needed when a lotta people have to get up and get into corsets or button a lot of buttons?

Can Hamilton just preform the whole thing? Obviously the whole thing with Borle winning but not preforming should be avoided, so I hope for a lead in of what comes next into an uncut non stop. That would have all the nominees preforming and while long, would probably boost rather than decrease viewers.

I appoligise for any spelling mistakes. I may be on my mobile. Clumsy fingers and small little touchscreen keys don't mixx. I try to spellcheck, but I may miss something.

I have a feeling that Fiddler might do a Tony medley, with a mix of Tradition, If I Were a Rich Man, and the Bottle Dance, to showcase the direction and ensemble, Danny Burstein, and the dancing within the show.

Also, with Hamilton I see them doing what Fun Home did last year and showcase some of their actors but showcase the strongest moment of the show. I'm not sure which song that is since I wasn't fast enough to score tickets to Hamilton, but from what I've heard on the soundtrack it might be the Room Where it Happens. Either that or the opening, since they might want to introduce the show.

I doubt many people watching the Tonys will need an introduction to Hamilton to be honest.

I would love if the Tonys opened with Carpool Karaoke with a star from each of the shows. This could give each show a chance to highlight a performer who may not stand out in the main number they perform live. I think it's the perfect (and maybe the only proper) way for Corden to ring in the Tony Awards!

Jersey Boys should perform "Sherry," and Chicago should do "Cell Block Tango."

In honor of the 20th anniversary, they should also bring back the original cast of Rent to perform "Seasons of Love"

That's not a bad guess - Rent is starting a new national tour, so this might actually be a great platform to do a quick promo of sorts if producers are ready to cough up some dough.

As for Hamilton - I want them to do Room Where It Happens. Fiddler is so tricky, I'd go for Tradition because it is well loved and showcases the cast very well. I really hope American Psycho can stick around till the Tonys and get to perform. The Colbert performance left me wanting to see more (and very turned on but that's neither here nor there).  Motown might do a quick promo performance too, btw. To promote their summer outing.

My bet is the tonys will open with tradition fiddler.

I can't see them doing Room Where It Happens. It's such a pivotal song that in Burr's character change that I don't see it working out of context as well as some other songs. Non-stop is perfect for showcasing the whole cast. Schuyler Sisters would be fun but it uses the turn tables heavily that they would have to restage/rechoreograph it and I think it would take away from how beautiful the number is at the Rodgers. If I remember correctly. Then again, Non-stop uses turn tables too... I can see why Hamilton wanted to perform on the Grammys in their own theater.

And Lin and his cabinet have stated in the past that they don't want to do medleys for Hamilton.

Mm I don't remember Schuyler sisters using turn tables. Non-stop definitely used them more.

Edit: nevermind i remember they use them especially at the end of the song. i wonder if they do preform a song that used turnyables how they would adapt it. maybe tht means they'l choose a song that does use them. ll

The last revival did a medley of "I don't Know His name" and the title song. I remember it because it's what got me interested in a show that's now one of my all-time faves.

"What I do think will happen is that Groff will introduce the number in character as King George."

That's really brilliant, much like Jefferson Mays for GGTLAM.

I was thinking he might appear during some sort of intro with James Corden, much like Glinda when Hugh Jackman hosted.

I'm willing to bet there will be Hamilton bits and pieces all over the broadcast, not just one number. It's too much of a draw for CBS not to.

As sure a bet as "I'm Here" is, I'm secretly hoping for "Miss Celie's Pants" to be immortalized. Pure joy when Cynthia sings, "Look who's wearing the pants NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!"

I was thinking about Rent doing something for the 20th anniversary, especially since Hamilton has been compared to it so much, but didn't they just perform a few years ago?

The Tonys have had non-equity performers on the telecast before...so I could see the rent tour cast making its way on the Tonys.

I doubt it, but if anything, we may see Jennifer Simard show off her TONY-nominated number from Disaster. I hope they do a performance for the 20th anniversary of Rent like they did a couple years ago with POTO.

I really doubt the Jennifer Simard thing will happen. This campaign is a nice bit of positivity for her but it also doesn't really make any sense. She is the only nomination for that show and the show has closed. The show would have to pay for her to perform which seems pointless. It's not the decision of the Tony Awards.

As for what I think will be performed (from the ones I have seen)

Hamilton-My Shot

Shuffle Along- Broadway Blues

Color Purple- Should do Hell no and I'm Here to showcase the two nominated women.

She Loves Me- Good Morning, Good Day or Sounds While Selling

Fiddler- Tradition? Wedding Dance? Who knows

I was hoping to see American Psycho get a Tony nod so as to see what they would do with that one.  I would have almost had them lead in with "You Are What You Wear" and move into "This Is Not An Exit" to showcase Walker, bringing in the rest of the cast behind him.

I guess we won't be seeing anything from that musical.  Though I can still hope.

She Loves Me will be tough because there are so many great things you can do but IMO the best were "She Loves Me" to showcase Levi, with "Will He Like Me" for Benanti.  But you can't beat "Ilona" either.  A totally fun number.  If you try to throw too much it ends up like On the Twentieth Century last year which I felt too frenetic.

For Fiddler I'd like to see "To LIfe."  I thought that was great.  And the choreography was wonderful.

Hamilton?  I always have liked "The Room Where It Happens."

I think a few days ago, Lin posted something about knowing what they're going to perform and having some work to do on it which makes me think they are doing a medley.  We'll see...
