That depends on how long this closure lasts for. If it last for 3 months, I can see a lot of things not reopening like COMPANY, DIANA, GIRL FROM THE NORTH COUNTRY, HANGMEN, MEAN GIRLS, MRS. DOUBTFIRE, LEHMAN TRILOGY, VIRGINIA WOOLF and possibly more.
Unfortunately, doubt Flying over Sunset and Caroline or Change will end up opening. Ten years from now, we’ll probably get some encore presentations of both.

Why couldn't any of these shows just pop back into their booked theatres? Why would any of them have to close? Are they still required to pay rent to the theatres during this period? If so, why? It's not like the theatres are able to fill the the theatre with another show during the shut-down.

Also, “The Visitor” at the Public, due to run from March 24-May 10, would be completely canceled... making Tom Kitt without a doubt the unluckiest NY dramatist of the year, since both of his shows, Broadway and off-Broadway, were scheduled to play the bulk of their runs if not their entire runs during this shutdown window.

The investment was for the projected income to come as the show opened. Realize there is no maintenance, rehearsals, new publicity, etc. It's practicality re-building the production from scrap It would be re-assembling everything, that's a brand new investment. Most shows wouldn't be able to afford that.
Not all the production elements are gone, but re-opening will mean a significant investment not all will be able to face, especially without knowing if their production will be profitable moving forward.

Well said, BlaX. But i am curious if these productions are going to be paying rent to the theater during the hiatus.
i would think that for some of these, the actors' schedules would make opening impossible (Woolf, Drive, Lehman, Take Me Out), but i had assumed that the Roundabout, Lincoln Center, etc., productions, would be able to just shift their schedules around a bit. In other words, I was hopeful we'd see Caroline and FOS at some point.
I do think this kills Beetlejuice transfer and I wonder if Mean Girls, Jagged Little Pill, North Country make it. And I really cant see how The Minutes or Hangmen open in May, even with a late July Tony Awards..
Unfortunately this could have more of a lasting effect even once the curtain goes up again as if a bunch of shows close will anything open in the theatres for the summer months? Man this sucks for all those shows that won’t reap the benefit of some Tony noms and wins and for people like Elizabeth Stanley and Lauren Patten who were generating Tony buzz but now could miss the chance to be rewarded for their work
I personally feel that many shows will not make it back once Broadway opens. Many shows cant afford to start from the bottom and build steam, excitement and money to secure a healthy run.
I be sad to miss Caroline or Change, or even new musicals Jagged Little Pill and Girl from the North Country.
Broadway will start to rise from the ashes of Covid19 and those that will return are the solid hits.
Either way, this will go down in history. I miss Broadway so much. So much.
Who knows what will happen with Flying Over Sunset but I hope Caroline, or Change will be okay. With Roundabout being nonprofit, I'm hoping they can take the hit to at least finish the scheduled run (assuming the Broadway theaters are allowed to re-open) even if they can't extend. Based on nothing, I have blind hope that Intimate Apparel might find a way to reschedule. I think I have less faith in FOS because it was scheduled as a limited run when it theoretically could have had some commercial appeal.
I hope Company makes it.
Are the successful shows from last season/this season in any danger (e.g. Moulin Rouge, Tina, Hadestown, Ain't Too Proud)?
I would like to think LCT has the funds to give Flying Over Sunset a fair chance, especially since there was nothing set for the Beaumont after it, but I just don't know anymore. This is all so depressing.
If this does go for 3 months or more, Beetlejuice has played its final performance. It’s scheduled to close on June 6th, which would fall before a re-opening in 3 months. I’m not sure how likely a change of venue was for the show prior to all this, but it’s dead now.
Did Sharon D. Clarke have to go back to England or is she still Stateside?

Whenever Broadway reopens, it will be within the League's best interest to extend the nominating window until 4-7 wks after resuming perfs, followed by the Awards ceremony. It is Broadway's most important advertising tool, and the shows that survive it will need the exposure more than ever.
But, that also raises questions about the dates for the 2020-21 season, if they hope to keep the ceremony in June 2021.
As for which shows make it, I don't even want to begin guessing. I bet we'll also see the closure of at least one prestigious not-for-profit theatre who can't weather the storm.
