Don't like: Wicked AIDA The Lion King Grease The 1998 revival cast of Cabaret (I'm alone among Cabaret fans for that one) Spamalot Camelot Carousel (so damned BORING)
Like (no one else does, it seems) CATS Phantom (Yeston and whatshisname) Fiddler on the Roof (Can't find anyone else who enjoys it anymore)
"Do you even sleep? Or do you just hang upside down with your eyes closed?"
I'll let you guess.
WSS - I don't know what it is, but I remember a thread a while back whereas it being claimed the "perfect musical"...eck.
Aida - I strongly dislike musicals in which the lyrics (I'm only going by what I hear on the CD) are style over substance. AIDA is SO style over substance. A bunch of songs that sound nice and use interesting words, but really don't end up saying much. :-p
And a bunch of people dislike Evita apparently...why?!
Jesus Christ Superstar - as I've said before, I don't like most any Lloyd Webber except Phantom.
Okay, this is the first I've ever admitted this: I am a HUGE Sondheim fan, and LOVE virtually all his stuff, but aside from a handfull of beautiful songs, I've never been near as emotionally effected by Sunday in the Park with George before as I'm "supposed to be." Granted, I've only seen it on DVD, but it's never really grabed and engaged me. Same with The King and I; I can recognize it's really good, but I'm just not blown away by it.
"Who is Stephen Sondheim?" -roninjoey "The man who wishes he had written Phantom of the Opera!" - SueleenGay
I've heard almost all of the songs from Urinetown, but I can't really get into it. I don't know why, but something feels kind of irritating.
I also don't like DRS as much as everyone else. I almost fell asleep because (towards the end) it was boring and long. When I listen to the soundtrack there are only four songs I can truly hear over and over again. My mom is obsessed with it, though, so I can't escape it.
Most overrated shows I've seen...all Tony winners for best musical:
Rent - I did enjoy alot of it, but book had problems (specially Mimi being revived) and terribly directed in my opinion...get the cast off the end of the stage yelling at me!
The Producers - well done, but not great...weak score, and gay stereotypes are so NOT funny! Great performers made it.
worst - Will Rogers Follies - I HATED that show...
Lots I never want to see again, but appreciate that they are/were good theater: Guys and Dolls Oklahoma (ugh!) Music Man - never liked
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
Into the Woods- don't hate me but I just never enjoyed watching it- the whole thing is kind of annoying if you ask me
42nd Street- sooooo predictable
Once Upon a Mattress- I produced this show with a community theater so maybe I just had a bad cast but I could not sit through this show- I found it to be awful
"I love acting. It is so much more real than life."
~Oscar Wilde
I was SO excited to see this because of ALL the talk about it. Okay..artistically, really cool...but other than that...YAWN..if you've seen the cartoon, you've seen the musical.
Grease.......the tour was LAME Bare: The Pop Opera.....I'm glad its gone Zanna Don't.......This will be a flop when it comes to Broadway The Light In The Piazza....BOOOOORIIINGGG My Fair Lady....enough said
TITANIC has to be one of the worst Broadway shows I have ever seen!
"For me, THEATRE is an anticipation, an artistic rush, an emotional banquet, a jubilant appreciation, and an exit hopeful of clearer thought and better worlds."

"maybe our mistakes are what make our fate. Without them, what would shape our lives? Perhaps if we never veered off course, we wouldn't fall in love, or have babies, or be who we are. After all, seasons change. So do cities. People come into your life and people go. But it's comforting to know the ones you love are always in your heart. And if you're very lucky, a plane ride away" -sex and the city
I am not fond of Rent Expectations for Lion King were too great and I think the cast I saw was not the best And, here goes, I know I will be tarred and feathered, I really could not stand Boy From Oz. Talented people for sure, but, lousy book, score, direction, everything in my opinion. Sorry
Until Webber started soiling Broadway my least favorite "popular" show was "Fiddler"; But now I absolutely loathe "Phantom", "Joseph" and (worst of all:) "Cats". Just total dreck. I also hate "The Wiz" which I don't think anyone has mentioned yet.
Love "Urinetown", "Avenue Q", "Finians Rainbow" "Music Man" and "Lil Abner"
Guys & Dolls, Pippin, Phantom of the Opera, How to Succeed... (actually almost any show by loesser, though I do enjoy "Big D" a lot), Cabaret, Sunday In the Park With George (I love Sondheim, and I don't hate this show...I just don't really like it. And I'm crazy and like the 2nd act better than the first. And my indifference is almost more frusterating for me than if I hated it.), The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Producers, Mame, Camelot (based off of the soundtrack granted), Gigi, Fiddler on the Roof (I don't hate, I just think most of the music is boring), Grease I HATE WITH A PASSION AND WANT IT TO DIE DIE DIE, and I'll say it though everyone hates it: Cats.
Not that I think all are bad...I think Cabaret has some good ideas...I just don't like it.
