The Lion King, February 1998 with my grandma. I'd gotten the soundtrack for my birthday in preparation and was only disappointed to miss Tsidii Le Loka as Rafiki, but her understudy was amazing.

FIDDLER ON THE ROOF in '67. By then Harry Goz had replaced Zero Mostel as Tevye.
I've never figured out if Bette Midler was playing Tzeitel in the cast at that point.

But my next Broadway show was the one that has never been topped for me:
the OBC of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, on New Year's Eve 1973.

A Chorus Line (1989). I ended up seeing most of what would be the final cast of the original production.

@patash - I am so jealous

My first show was One Night Stand (1980). Jule Styne's second to last show. Starring Jack Weston, Charles Kimbrough, and Kate Mostel. Book by Herb Gardner, directed by John Dexter. Choreography by Peter Gennaro, sets by Robin Wagner, costumes by Patricia Zipprodt.

What a talented group of people!

Closed in previews

My first broadway show was Peter Pan in 1999. It was great! But my second broadway show is the one really made me fall in love with theater - Jekyll and Hyde in 2001. I know it's not everyone's favorite, but I love that show and think the score is marvelous!

Before traveling to New York for the first time, I had seen many touring productions that had come to my town. However, the very first show I ever saw on Broadway, I believe, was The Phantom of the Opera.

APPLAUSE with Lauren Bacall. (She was on stage... I didn't see it 'with' her unfortunately.) I don't remember it at all, though -- I was too young. The first shows I actually remember were PACIFIC OVERTURES and SHENANDOAH.

Before visiting NYC for the first time I had seen many theatrical productions in SoCal, but my first on Broadway was in 2003 Baz Luhrmann's 'La Boheme' at the Broadway Theatre. I also saw on that trip 'Enchanted April' at the Belasco and 'Hairspray' at the Neil Simon. Since that trip I've made many return visits to get my dose of GR8 Broadway theatre!
