Jeremy Strong has come a long way. From being a poor kid in Massachusetts, to constantly being rejected due to his looks, to being homeless for 3 years, to character actor in the most acclaimed films of the last decade to being the lead in one of the best shows ever made to now (hopefully) winning a Tony tonight. I'm so proud of him.
I think it's so nice/sweet that you are putting spoiler tags over your posts so that people get the surprise of seeing what the performances are for the first time when they see the show unless they choose to read. People complain about the toxicity of this forum sometimes but come on we do have nice and decent people.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Not necessarily predictions but how i would vote/what I hope happens (Not including plays as stereophonic is the only one I've seen this season sadly)
Musical: Outsiders (Illinoise in second place, Suffs in third)
Musical Revival: Merrily We Roll Along
Actor in a Musical: Jonathan Groff — Merrily We Roll Along
Actress in a Musical: Gayle Rankin -- Cabaret (I have not seen Notebook so I can judge on Maryann but Hells Kitchen did nothing for me and think it should go empty handed. Kecia is the only award it somewhat deserves. Kelli was excellent as always but again the show wasn't for me and thus the performance was dragged down). I didn't love Gayle's song choices but I thought her scene work was excellent
Featured Actor in a Musical: Daniel Radcliffe — Merrily We Roll Along
Featured Actress in a Musical: Lindsay Mendez — Merrily We Roll Along
Direction of a Musical: Merrily We Roll Along (but wouldn't mind Outsiders taking it)
Book of a Musical: Suffs
Original Score: OutsidersScenic Design of a Musical: Cabaret
The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
