I’ve seen that recent shows have had understudies for Seymour, Audrey, Mushnik, Chiffon, and Ronnette all at the same time, so I bet if even one more person went down, there wouldn’t be any more coverage. Hope they do get to reopen tomorrow like they intend."
This is a little strange I saw that too as well as their post on twitter saying the same thing now they are gone...wife has tickets for kids tomorrow anyone know why they would pull the posts?"
I’m assuming so people don’t see it at a later date and think the show is cancelled when it isn’t.
“The 8pm performance for Assassins on 1/1 have been cancelled out of an abundance of caution due to increasing Covid-19 positivity rates.”
I’m assuming they’re referring to rates in the city and not in the cast/crew. If that’s the case, I have to be worried about my ticket for Tuesday night as I don’t see rates falling between now and then (if anything, they’ll spike again following NYE celebrations). I’m not complaining. I applaud them for being cautious. And worse case scenario is probably that I’ll just pivot (if they cancel with enough warning that I can make it to another theatre) and see something I wouldn’t have seen otherwise (and maybe see Assassins if it transfers to Broadway later). I’m also anxious about whether this trip is even a good idea right now…Argh…I will probably never book a non-refundable hotel reservation again.

Yes, when I saw it, Eddie Cooper was out and the understudy was on as The Proprietor. (From his Instagram, it looks like he's also gone on as Samuel Byck.)

I don't see how it makes any sense for Assassins to cancel performances based on rates in the city, unless they are going to (heaven forfend) scrap the rest of the run. The show is booked to run through 1/29, right around or just after when cases are expected to peak. The omicron situation will not improve all that much before then. That said, I think they're probably referring to cases in the company, although that's a weird way to phrase it. They used the same language to announce they were down on the 22 and 23.
Ugh...I'm supposed to fly from LA to NY on Wednesday and see Assassins Friday. Although we're seeing other shows, Assassins and Caroline or Change (on Thursday) are the main reasons we're not postponing this trip to the spring, and I've been taking comfort in that both of them have been pretty reliable in the last couple of weeks. No clue what to do now...just wait and see over the next couple of days, I guess. This is very stressful.
Im so sorry Dan, I cannot imagine coming from out of town in this time of complete uncertainty and just hoping my show will happen. So stressful and frustrating. I hope it works out.

With schools opening back on Monday and mask usage on the subway spotty at best, this is a very good week NOT to be coming here.
I agree Page, January is weird anyways but put a global pandemic on top of that with random cancellations happening at any time? It's honestly unsafe and not worth it to travel to NYC right now, imo.

Mockingbird has cancelled both shows today.
