Under 12 will need full vaccination or a negative antigen (within 24 hours) or PCR (within 48 hours).
Wonder if this might soon come to Broadway?"
Here in Hershey,PA masks are strongly encouraged but not mandatory and no vaccine mandates. I was a bit uncomfortable with a lady aside of me unmasked and leaning over almost in my lap to be able to see around the people in front of us. After a few glares she finally got the hint and put her mask on but was still leaning over into my seat.

People leaning into your seat space is annoying even before covid started.
I am at the CFA tour tonight. Marika Aubrey is the only one out with an understudy for Beverly. No doubt due to she is helping COVID call outs in NYC. It sucks that it is cancelled there but her tour is running here.. but I am glad she got some Broadway runs in.

Has it been six months since the kids between 12-18 who got vaccinated as soon as it was possible got their second shots? Rushing them into getting boosters doesn't seem like it would confer greater immunity if their vaccinations were relatively recent.
SLAVE PLAY is cancelled for Saturday night in order to give the cast (which just recently added Jakeem Powell to replace Ato Blankson-Wood) a “mental health break”

It has been six months since vaccines for kids aged 12-15 were authorized. They were authorized in New York on May 13th, 2021.

So canceling for any and all reasons including Covid, non-covid illnesses and mental health breaks is now a thing. I sincerely doubt we will ever have a non cancelled show ever again. Which is absolutely fine for the industry to take care of their own, I just wonder how audiences will react to it long term.
Non-covid illness is a euphemism for the actor called out and the understudy(s) all have covid.
Not that some of you would know or care but the industry as a whole is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Saying you are taking a mental health break is a rare moment of honesty, something that has been in short supply these last weeks.
Audiences are giving up as we speak. How this will affect things long term is anyone's guess. I think it is bad news.
i kept up with this thread before driving approximately an hour into the city to see 3 shows in one day, all through rush or lottery. i've seen 2 of the shows I saw mentioned so I thought to provide some insight
Come from Away's matinee I'd say was 75% full; The ushers told the entire front 2 rows that we should be warned and prepared that all actors would appear unmasked and water droplets may fly onto our faces from the cast (I was used to both of these after rushing DEH multiple times, but clearly many were not as aware. A group to my right actually left the show 15 minutes in due to this). Not only that, but they had rush tickets available for both the matinee and evening shows even though I arrived around 1 for these tickets.
In the afternoon, the lottery winners (first 2 rows of freestyle love supreme) got a similar warning as come from away, though the format of this show meant it was far safer for all involved to generally remain distant from the audience, and not face each other either. This was also my favorite show of the day, lol. It felt more full of people in there, though I didn't check by how much, they did have people in the mezannine.
For the evening, this is where things got interesting. I attempted for standing room to Hamilton (this is already a poor decision), and the box office said at 7:55 there were still 12 more tickets to the show, and similar happened at the matinee. On top of this, it meant there would be no rush. For a show that's typically sold out completely, it was a surprise that they had a "high" (comparative to pre-covid) amount of seats left. And so, I sprinted over to Girl from the North Country, where they still had rush tickets available at curtain, in the center orchestra towards the prime seats. There were entire rows empty in front of me, balcony closed, and mezzanine barely had people outside the first two rows, and likewise the orchestra maybe had 50% of capacity. Another idea for the evening show was Tina, but for whatever reason they don't sell rush or standing room...
Perhaps these are "Poor selling shows," or I went on a poor selling day and this is all anectodal, however it's pretty clear that covid is a large concern for audiences and they may be avoiding theatre due to it. I've never had staff warn about water droplets flying onto lottery folks until yesterday. I wish they would release the box office reports weekly like they did pre-covid, they'd really provide insight for the most part to check on the status of audiences for broadway, but likely they would be very, very bad. And shows don't want that kind of bad press, and neither do us locals that want to see shows without being worried they'll close without warning at the drop of a swab.
(I hope this isn't too off topic! Girl from North Country was really good and I highly recommend seeing it before it shuts due to poor sales it covid... of course, we all know what happened today to come from away.)
Does anyone know why Moulin Rouge cancelled today’s matinee but not tonight’s performance?? We had tickets for Tuesday which was cancelled and were excited to see the matinee today after scrambling for tickets!
The topic of audience members in the front rows is interesting. At Slave Play, my friend reported that the entire front row had kn95 masks taped to the seats, with a note requesting they be worn.

I read that audience members who sit in the Can Can seats at Moulin Rouge are given (k?)N95 masks.
This is honestly one of my concerns sitting in the first few rows - germs from the stage - and I wonder if shows will go back to holding the first few rows back from being on sale

I love both of these points. both FLS and CFA didn't provide kn95 masks for the first two rows, however they did have an usher with (3 ply, perhaps) surgical masks for those who had fabric masks at both. Girl from the north country I have no clue, and the front row didn't appear empty. There was a segment in FLS where the performers mentioned how proud they were everybody in the house was still wearing masks and vaccinated, and "gave a shoutout" to those that were boosted.
CFA felt really dangerous due to the amount of people on stage and how close they stand to the front of the stage, though the "stage kisses" were clearly staged distant. Most of the actors had clear spit flying on those in row A center, and this is not to blame them but it's what I observed.
FLS had the freedom for all the actors to stay mainly towards the middle of the stage, and even during audience q&a used a throwable microphone and Andrew Bancroft went to the other side of the stage to distance from the person speaking (which was very kind of him, as the woman appeared elderly as well). I felt a lot safer in the front row there opposed to CFA.
I'm glad to hear slave play is placing masks on the seats of lottery winners/rush, a job well done! Despite the poor sales and reviews, they get an A+ on keeping their cast, crew, and audience safe!

They had a swing debuting last minute as Santiago. Wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't rehearsed before. Some actors posted about being in rehearsal all day to get people ready to go on tonight. Seems like about 10 cast members were out tonight including 6 principals.

When I looked into Can Can seats for Moulin Rouge the website stated that they requested patrons seated in that area all wear N-95 or KN-95 masks and KN-95s would be provided if they did not have one. The Can Can seats were out of my budget so I did not look further.
I was at Company last night front row (off the side) and the usher came and spoke to the people in the front 3 rows and spoke about the importance of having our masks on over our nose/mouth the entire time since we were so close to the performers. I noticed she had a pack of black masks. I’ve been wearing my KN-95s to all shows so did not inquire.

Easiest way to handle those types. Tell them not to get so close. Tell them you ate something bad at lunch/dinner and I am quite gassy. I'm sorry I can't control it. Works every time.

I'm feeling pretty sad about my decision now. I say just go for it."
I am sorry that happened to you. But happy to see another OKC area person on here! Something in the water."
Well, my PCR test was negative so I’ll be in NYC next week!
Mariand Torres (currently a Fate, but will leave when Kay Trinidad Karns returns from maternity leave) posted on her instagram that she has the virus, which I assume contributed to the Hadestown shutdowns (Reeve Carney's mother also tweeted about having it, so it's possible he was also exposed). Hope she recovers swiftly! YaYa Reich is covering that track for the rest of the week (They posted something on instagram that said "Fate Week" or something). Khaila Wilcoxon is also a Fate over the next few days, in Jewelle's track, but luckily there's no indicators that Jewelle's absences are related to COVID (not that she's obligated to share if she does have it, of course).
