'Once Upon a One More Time' flopped too. Totally different thing from the artist being on stage.

I think most people over 50 have no clue who he is.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I think people over 50 are not who they are trying to get in there, largely because they’re already likely most willing to see a production of Cabaret regardless.

Orville Peck was one of the opening acts for the last Harry Styles tour. That demographic seems to be the one that the producers are desperately trying to recruit.
From all accounts this show isn't getting the box office it needs to be profitable long term, given how expensive it's been to mount, so how much longer do people in the know think it will last?
I mean there was talk not that long ago that it could close by the middle of the year, do they think the can get lead casting that could up the box office and make it worthwhile to keep it open?
They can stunt cast all they want but it doesnt change the fact that this was one of the most anticipated shows to open last year and it ended up being a dud. Turns out nobody really cares about pre-show entertainment and a $250 cheese plate with sh*tty champagne when the show sucks. Weird.

If Lambert and Cravalho aren’t delivering the box office figures they need, there’s no way Peck and Noblezada will. And I’m saying this as someone who would go back specifically for Peck.
They need an A-list name like Eddie Redmayne. They won’t get one now.

I’d say, without an A-Lister as the Emcee or Sally, the show struggles to break $1mil most weeks through spring/summer and we see them cut some of the “extras” along the way (Pineapple Room, dinner, etc.). They won’t cut the preshow - like it or not, it’s the production’s reason to exist - so it will continue to have an overblown budget and it’ll likely close before end of 2025 or January 2026 if they’re willing to sink money for some last-minute holiday cash. Who knows though, maybe they cast some unexpected moneymakers and prove us all wrong.
For what it’s worth, I would also buy a ticket to see Orville Peck, even having not liked it the 1.5 other times I saw the show.
I have never heard of Orville Peck and I assume that he better appeal to a lot of people under (fill in age), because a lot of other people have never heard of him either. I can't imagine the producers of Cabaret can do any stunt casting that is going to lead them to ever returning their investment, unless Ariande Grande and Timothee Chamalet sign on for a year and they are immediately replaced by Lady Gaga and Cole Escola.
Orville Peck peaked in 2021. The Pony album and its tour was an amazing time. He hasn't created great output musically since then. Several of my friends who went to see him in 2019 don't care about him anymore. I hope this rumour isn't true because they're just gonna shoot themselves in the foot.

We can argue the reach of his music, but his album that he released this season is amazing with some truly kick ass features on it.
