I'm assuming you're wondering if she's covering Audra in Gypsy, and not with a recent Tony win she's not! That would be a major career stepback. If it were an alternate situation, MAYBE, but I don't see Audra doing that. (Kalukango is also kinda too young for Rose)

Don’t be daft, of course they know what they’re in for. They’ve seen all her New York productions, they interviewed her, and they chose her over many other candidates. (Remember we also have no idea how frequently she’ll be directing and in which venues; I bet it won’t be every year.)

Totally agree -- not to mention, it's quite the difference to be AD of Encores! and direct there, versus being the head of a bigger entity like Lincoln Center and directing there. And to split hairs, the news articles said she would continue to direct -- but didn't specify she'd direct at LCT.

I gather this is the video you mean. Holy crap this gives me chills!

Source to confirm?
The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince
This was really, really great. Ragtime has always been one of my all time favorite shows (I think the score and book are near perfect), so seeing this performed by an all-star Broadway cast with the glorious Encores orchestra was a treat.
The cast is excellent. Joshua Henry and Brandon Uranowitz were the standouts for me. Caissie Levy can be hit or miss for me, but she fares very well here. Nichelle Lewis was good, but not quite great IMO.
The staging is very simple - no bells and whistles here. This really allows the material and performances to shine through in full force (similar to Lear DeBessonet’s previous success with Into the Woods).
All in all, a truly wonderful night. It’s eerie how timely this show is right now at this moment in history.

Probably the best show I’ve ever seen at City Center. All star vocals (will we ever hear it sung this well again?) with a cast that showed up prepared and ready to blow the roof off the place. It may not be my favorite musical ever but even I couldn’t hold back the tears. When Mother found that baby the tears started and were hard to stop. Also, this would be such a good movie musical with a huge 90s budget. It feels very cinematic.
I remember watching Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing the summer of 2020 and marveling with a deep sadness how little had changed since it was released. This musical feels frightfully relevant right now. It’s all just a little bit of history repeating…

I suspect Broadway is just around the corner."
Seaview and ATG are finalizing spring dates at the Palace as we speak. Tickets will go on sale in early 2025, and it will be a limited run.
I’ve got a feeling this should easily appeal to the SUFFS crowd (and not just because Shaina is in it).
One of the theaters with a new musical(Tammy Faye, A Wonderful Life, Swept Away) will have their theater open come the Spring. Let this arrive in March and run through the end of 2025. This could derail a Sunset revival Tony sweep.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
