Single tickets for members went on sale today. My wallet is wailing but I am happy that I was able to get somewhat decent seats for Dear World and Piazza.
I was a little surprised to see that the price for Oliver! was higher ($185) than the other two ($165) shows. Side mezzanine/balcony is $135/60 vs. $85/45. They are indeed smoking something potent over on 55th Street.

I wonder if it's like when the subscription houses in my city get a "family show" I notice the prices go up a bit, because families are going to be coming, so that is more than 1 or 2 tickets sometimes wo why not get all they can. Oliver also seems to be the most mainstream show out of the 3, that you might get more than the average person going.

Yea, website continues to crash for me too
-There's the muddle in the middle. There's the puddle where the poodle did the piddle."
I had a ticket to Oliver in my cart and the site bombed out while I was checking out. I've been on the website for over an hour. Now no dates show up under tickets. I just get the "loading" symbols. Grrrrrrrr! Please, sir, I just want one ticket!
Uggghh, of course City Center releases the discount code for Access City Center Club less than an hour after I bought full priced tickets. How easy do y'all think it would be to sell my Encores tickets secondhand at face value if I was thinking of buying additional/replacement tickets with the discount code? Or maybe I should just count my losses and move on?
Seems like they changed the way Access City Center works this year- or maybe it’s a glitch. but most of the tickets appear to be the same price, just with a reduced fee ($3 instead of $10), which only the lowest priced seats- normally $35 reduced to $25 (plus $3 fee). And those are only in the balcony. Very lame if this was intentional, what’s even the point?
I wasn’t gonna hesitate on getting tix to a few dates for “Dear World” - a show I’ve dreamed of seeing live for so many years. Good seats were moving insanely fast so there wasn’t even really time to think.
I tried right when the sale went live & had the same problem with site not loading. I tried a couple hours later after I had driven down to Las Vegas from Utah, and got on no problem. For the Saturday night of Dear World there still seemed like lots in the Mezzanine though Orchestra seemed almost sold out.
Airfare on United is almost double what I paid for my trip in July, so I might try the direct flights to JFK that JetBlue has started. I've heard mixed reviews though.
To hear Donna Murphy sing and act “I don’t want to know”, “Kiss her now” and “and I was beautiful” feels like it could end up being one of those rare special moments in musical theatre that are becoming rarer and rarer in our lives right now. I would not even hesitate to buy if I had the opportunity to see.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
Any intel/speculation about casting for Oliver? I would expect them to pull in some big names for a 2-week run, but it seems odd that they haven't announced anything yet. Into the Woods was the equivalent show of last season, and cast was announced before individual tickets went on sale (though it did end up changing significantly!).
OLIVER doesn’t really lend itself to star casting. Not a ton of guys who mean A LOT at the box office are gonna be rushing to play Fagin for two weeks; maybe you get a Tony nominee/winner for Nancy at best.
Any speculation of casting will also depend on how they are handling it racially — if some roles will be deliberately people of color, or vs. “colorblind” casting across the board. (I would assume the former.)
Would be shocked if we get anyone close to Sara B or NPH.

Over here in London, Fagin is usually played by big-name stars (Johnathan Pryce, Rowan Atkinson, etc) but that can sometimes be a bit of a problem. In the original production, the reimagining of Fagin represented a Jewish writer and a Jewish actor "claiming ownership" of one of the most notorious Jewish villains in literary history. Casting non-Jews can diminish this somewhat and lead to the character becoming a caricature. Therefore, I would prefer a Jewish actor in the role...
If PICTURES FROM HOME is a short limited run they wouldn't be available --- but Nathan Lane or Danny Burstein would be great Fagins. Fred Molina would also be great, and so would John Lithgow or Tony Shalhoub. Hell, I can even see Harvey Fierstein in the role!
