Be More Chill was already an underdog with an uphill climb."
What I meant was some shows are still going to be just fine, yeah as you said the underdogs that were already on the bottom of the ladder have to be a bit worried now. Like... wow is the only underdog here Be More Chilled? Tootise, Beetlejuice, and Pretty Woman are all gonna be fine on name recognition alone. Cher Show has the lovers of Cher and jukebox genre lovers pretty much to itself. Be More Chilled was already the odd ball out and with Hadestown coming in now (you can't deny even if it doesn't win it gonna be a massive nomination getter) is now going to push Be More Chilled down even further. It's at the point that as long as Tootsie comes in as strong as it's expected, critics surprising us all and love the heck out of Cher Show, and if Beetlejuice makes some tweeks from the tryout, Be More Chilled is likely on the bubble spot for a Best Musical Nomination if not already on the outside looking in. It really DIDN'T need a highly anticipated already critical and audience darling of a show coming in to the same season to steal what little thunder it already had away.

I adored this show at NYTW. Haven't seen any incarnations since, but I'm rooting for this so hard. I've been very underwhelmed by new musicals this season thus far. Amber Gray better pick up at least a nomination for featured actress.
Best Musical nominees:
Hadestown
Tootsie
The Cher Show
The Prom
5th option: Be More Chill

I haven't been this excited about a transfer in a looonng time. Can't wait for them to sweep the awards season!

If Patrick Page does AT LEAST get a nomination, I’ll be so mad. Same goes for my girl Amber Gray, who should have gotten one for Great Comet.

Also, I think this is one of 2 shows that aren’t based on anything (besides the myth) so that might help its Tony nom and possible win
First time I've heard of this, but the overall excitement here has me intrigued, and thinking of looking into it for my trip next May. Is there any show that this can be compared to? Is it a funny, dark, or complex show? I will definitely have to do some investigating, and looking on Youtube for song samples, but anyone who could provide more info than what the article here announcing its opening next year would be appreciated.

Oh my goodness, yes. I wish for nothing less.
Sooo happy to hear about this. This was definitely my favorite show of 2016 when I saw it off-broadway at NYTW. Can't wait to see the changes they made.

Mark my words... Hadestown is going to sweep all the major categories at this year’s Tonys. They’ll probably pick up a lot of the creative categories as well, and are definitely a lock for the featured categories.

I seem to recall the exact same things were said about GREAT COMET two years ago...

Comet actually deserved them...
Very stoked to see this news; I've been holding open a show slot for my April trip hoping it would come in this season.
Even though they haven't announced casting yet, it'll pretty much have to be the same as the London cast, right? There's not an awful lot of time between the end of the London run and the start of NY previews to bring in new actors.
PLEASE let this have Sun evening performances, and my April trip will be perfect.

As it should be through I could see Beetlejuice still coming in and pushing out The Prom to 5th option and Be More Chill out all together. I totally forgot that The Prom is here this season as well begin that it hasn't made huge waves (minus the Thankgiving performance of course) but it's got so much heart I would love to see it recognized with a nomination.
Ugh, I just realized this is another Ticketmaster show.

As fun as these predictions are, no one knows a thing until these shows are actually up and running here. They have plenty of time to screw things up :)
I think it's very possible this wins score, supporting actor, supporting actress, and orchestrations. I haven't seen this new incarnation, but I've heard a lot of people rave about it. I just saw an interview with Chavkin and Mitchell saying they were going to do a ton of work on it and how it isn't even close to being finished. I think this'll be the Best Musical winner for sure.

they dont have a lot of time do they? The London run ends at the end of January right? And then this opens in March?
Okay, so Patrick Page? He is now the front runner for any award he’s eligible for. His performance is magnificent and you combine it with Amber Gray’s and you get lost in the magic.
