I can only speak for myself, but I have no strong desire for the show to close or stay open either way. But all the negative press it seems to be getting is becoming overwhelming at this point. But yes, if they score huge at the Tony's and the general public still has an interest, they need not worry.

I agree. Few months ago people on here were ready to go see the Perfect Crime out of desperation. And now the same people want a whole bunch of actors and creatives to loose jobs and shut down a popular show because of the mistake of a few people.
i detested this show (loved the music) and i do appreciate the irony of the producers of a show that screams WE ARE WOKE ABOUT EVERY ISSUE LET ME YELL AT YOU ABOUT EACH ONE are so allegedly insensitive
but i have to chuckle that the notion that this "bad press" will impact ticket sales. not only will this barely make the non-bway press, even if it does, do people here actually think that more than what? 2% of potential ticket buyers who were going to see this show would then choose not to, because of allegations of mistreatment behind the scenes two years ago? i just struggle to understand how some people here think the world beyond these message boards operates.
They’re right tho. it’s just hard for you to see that because you’ve already admitted that you hate the show. Hypothetically if your favorite musical had a bunch of BS going on behind the scenes that was not known to the public, I’m pretty positive it would still be your favorite.
Digress - I actually really loved the show And I honestly hate when people use the argument of “there are two many issues it’s too woke blah blah blah”. Yeah, okay Karen.
Shame the voting for the Tonys took place in March. If/when people win for Jagged Little Pill (because there was barely any competition) will we get awkward speeches addressing the problems or will everyone just ignore all these allegations?

I expect them to post something on their social media, but I wouldn’t expect any mention of it at the actual Tony’s.

I hope Patten ignores it and repositions the whole thing by talking about how the character’s journey is similar to her own.

This! This production to me seems to epitomise performative activism, which lets be real, is fervent in the theater world!
But like you say, these controversies will make hardly any difference to the success of the show. 99% of the ticket buying public won’t have any idea of any of these controversies. It does seem though that some people are determined for the show to fail whatever. They demanded that JLP producers address the issues around Jo’s character, and yet when they finally did, and admitted mistakes were made and they must do better, it still wasn’t good enough.

Anyone involved in this show needs to abandon ship while they still have a career."
That has to be about the stupidest thing I have seen on here in a long time and there have been some doozies. I can't imagine how staying in this show would hurt the career of Kathryn, Derek, Elizabeth (or Heidi), Lauren, Antonio or Sean. After being out of work this long of a time some people might actually need the job and a paycheck. I already have a ticket for the first full week it is back. If I didn't I would buy one now. I have known one principal in the cast for a long time and would want to show support.
Not everyone likes every show and every performer. That is the nature of art. The overwhelming negative harping on here sounds more like people wanting Broadway to close for good as opposed to come back and hopefully survive. Does it really make your lives better to come on here at complain or trash people and shows? If you don't like someone - case closed. Why you feel we all need for everyone to hear you are not seeing a show and don't like something is really a mystery.

Wanting people out of work and expecting a show to close amid constant controversies are not the same thing.
I don't fault any of the cast members for any of this. The burden falls solely on the producers, creative team, and senior management. I was saying that in a world where people are overly eager to cancel others, that the actors involved think very carefully about sticking with a problematic show until the bitter end.
I didn't even really have a stake in this until Nora Schell dropped their story today. I will not tolerate mistreatment of actors for a moment and any show that is accused of mistreatment needs to be immediately investigated by the powers that be.
There should be no winner for Best Book or Best Actor on Sunday. Sorry not sorry. This year's awards are just blah. 3 jukebox musicals. Broadway has jumped the shark.

Wasn't she asked to recently rewrite the Powerpuff CW pilot after it leaked and was basically not well received? And an actor stepped down from that project as well.

Looks like this show may unfortunately suffer the same fate that befell Natasha, Pierre, & The Great Comet of 1812. Get caught up in a web of negative controversy (most notably, the mistreatment of POC actors), and combine that with already-slacking ticket sales in the weeks and months to follow.
I'd give Jagged until early January at the absolute latest.

I wouldn't give the allegations a ton of weight regarding ticket sales. I think it be closed by January because, apparently, it's just a terrible show.

I'm curious to see if Sing Street is still looking to return sometime in the 2021-22 season. However, I think the Broadhurst may be a little too big for this kind of show (given Jagged closes in January).
