I am devastated and I don’t know what to say. We all know her tremendous talent, but her heart was just as beautiful big. She mentored so many young performers at her alma mater, set up scholarships, and kept us going. I was a **** singer, but she helped me fight.
I’m grateful for. The entire community lost someone truly one of a kind today. She battled with grace and dignity and in the end, something managed to somehow be stronger then her. I really do have Jason and her family in my heart today.

So sad. I had the pleasure of seeing her in the King and I. She was amazing. A true class act.

I know exactly what you mean. It’s always terrible, sad news to hear of anyone’s passing but Marin Mazzie had a quality that just seemed as though her soul was shining through her, at all times. She radiated human kindness and wisdom. She was a truly incredible performer and a much loved woman. My thoughts to her husband and family.

So young and so talented. So many memorable performances. I was fortunate to see her with Jason at NJPAC in May, which may have been one of her last performances, if not her last. You could tell she wasn't herself, but she was still incredible and you could just see their love for each other which was really heartwarming and sweet. Such grace and class. Rest In Peace.

Such sad, sad news.
Years ago, I arranged to get a group together to record and audio commentary for a release of Sondheim's PASSION for DVD.
Marin, Donna and even Jere Shea (who was nearly impossible to track down as he was now working in Massachusetts for the government) all agreed to do it. Stephen Sondheim, James Lapine and Ira Weitzman all agreed to participate as well. We had some wine (which only Mr. Sondheim had a glass or two of during the session) and the commentary went off without a hitch...
I do remember there were a few stories that needed to be cut due to content, etc. Marin and Jere told a great story of Jere having to use Bengay on some of his body due to muscle aches, etc. During the opening scene when he and Marin are in bed together, Marin came in contact with some of Jere's Bengay... Well, in the commentary, as she was laughingly telling the story, she all of the sudden burst into song...a small snippet from SWEENEY TODD: The original lyrics are "City on fire! City on fire!" Marin swapped out "City" and the commentary ground to a halt as everyone laughed like there was no tomorrow... The whole experience, having all of those people in a small studio reminiscing about the show, was one of my life highlights...
About a year later, I was on a plane headed to LAX from JFK. I flew like a crazy person at the time so I always got upgraded. I looked up as the plane was boarding and saw Marin and Jason coming down the aisle on their way to seats in coach. Marin recognized me and we all said our "hellos" and she introduced me to Jason. I knew I had a ton of airmiles, so I got up and tried to have the flight personnel upgrade Marin and Jason, but the doors to the plane had been shut and they claimed it was too late to make the change.
I'm going to go home tonight and watch Marin and Jason in their segments from the Sondheim 80th Birthday Concert. So sad.

I remember going to see Next to Normal again, after Alice left, and wondering... hmm, can this be as good, and as powerful? With Marin there, I needn't have worried. I just didn't know her then. Only got to see her in Bullets after that...

I’m devastated by this. Marin is currently the #2 Twitter trend in the country and reading the outpouring of love and overwhelming response to her passing is truly touching.

Had the good fortune of seeing her live in Ragtime. She was absolute perfection. So grateful we have her exquisite vocals in that production (as well as many others) to remind us of the heart and soul she put into every one of her roles. What a loss.

I had the privilege of meeting her a few times and seeing her perform in "Bullets Over Broadway" and "The King and I". Her down to Earth and friendly demeanor belied the fact that she could command a stage and make you feel however she wanted to make you feel.
The last time I saw her was one of the final performances in "The King and I" while she was in the middle of battling cancer (or she may have been in remission, I cannot remember). She was graceful, stunning, and filled the theatre with her voice. I told her it was my 100th Broadway show, and she thanked me for coming for such a milestone occasion. Nobody will ever twirl around the stage in that big-ass ball gown like that again for a very long time.

I did too. A memorable performance. I’ve seen her many times since then but this was always the one that stays with me. Sending condolences to her family and friends.

Talk about a trooper. What sad news. Her performance as Mother in Ragtime was just great, as was her Lili Vanessi (sic). What a voice. I now feel lousy that I was unable to see her in The King and I; you need to admire her sheer never-say-die attitude. A real loss.

Same...I wasn't aware she was back in chemo, but that might have been something they all chose to keep private. Her and Jason were truly THE Broadway power couple, I can't imagine his and his family's aching hearts right now. What a gem, she'll be greatly missed :*(

Posted: 9/13/18 at 5:17pmWhat a beautiful talent she was. I first saw her perform in Passion and she was astonishing. However it was Ragtime that her voice truly transported me. I played Back to Before on the Broadway cast recording again and again and again.

A devastating loss. She seemed like she would always be onstage, delivering beautiful performances. All of my friends who have worked with her have had nothing but the kindest words about her as a professional and a person.
I can't believe that when seeing Fire & Air at CSC just six months ago, I was seeing her last stage role.
