Just last night I was talking to a friend who said he wished "Jojo Rabbit" was a musical, and I said "it has Off-Broadway written all over it, we'll have heard the first song within ten years." This made me think: besides the projects that you personally WISH would become musicals, what have you seen or read that you immediately realized "there's no way this one doesn't get an adaptation sometime soon?"
Hocus Pocus. I'd be shocked if Disney didn't have some people developing it.
Crazy Rich Asians and Love Simon. I'd say in the next 2-4 years

You're SO right. I completely agree.
I still don't understand why they haven't tried to pursue Hunchback more. I guess some of the themes are darker Disney, but still.

Allegedly it's not broadway-bound because it's a limited season, Aug-mid Nov, and couldn't really turn a profit. They still might attempt in a White Christmas way where there are multiple tours going at once. They'd likely make all their money with every regional, school, etc doing it every year, though.
The Greatest Showman. With or without Hugh. Can add more songs, make it a spectacle, I’d be shocked if it never happened.
Also second Love Simon. Has lots of potential to work as a musical but I think they’d need a decent star to sell. I also just love Nick Robinson so much for so many reasons I don’t want anyone else in the role.
13 Going On 30 was in development a while back.
50 First Dates could be an interesting musical, and Notting Hill. Most popular rom-coms really.
I've always said The House Bunny starring Annaleigh Ashford would be exquisite.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding

This would be joyous. Mama Mia with a decent story and some genuine laughs.

This is the most brilliant idea I’ve heard all day

I always felt that Radio Days would make a good musical, but then I also thought that Bulletys Over Broadway would.
Also, 4 Weddings and a Funeral.

Can we get a Tesori “Blue Jasmine.”
I think if Beetlejuice can make it on Broadway, Hocus Pocus can SURELY pull off the same feat. Maybe just not at the same time...
Echoing Rocketman and The Greatest Showman. Throwing Step Up, Juno and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen in the ring.
I truly believe that with the right team and concept, Love, Simon could be the next Dear Evan Hansen.
Not a movie, but surely a game of thrones musical will eventually come about.
Call Me By Your Name is probably in the cards.
I could easily see CMBYN as a play.
I could see CMBYN as either a play with music (lovely romantic Italian music) or a musical. Elio's 11 o'clock number could be amazingly moving if well written.
I'm surprised that no one has taken a crack at adapting Across the Universe for the stage.

If I remember correctly, they were going to put it the stage a few years after the movie came out, but it became too expensive.

I have aways thought that Chappaquiddick will be a musical eventually.
50 First Dates is in development- a song from it was featured in a women writers of musical theatre showcase in October.

DEFINITELY agree with Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen—I was saying that recently!!
I’d love Pitch Perfect but I don’t think that’s likely
