I found this to be a remarkably bland and over choreographed production, but some people loved it. The producers and actors got their coins and now they can sashay on to other hopefully better projects

Yup. I was (and still am) devastated when they announced closing of that heavenly production of Dolly!. It was just theatrical bliss. I really thought it could've run for years with a never-ending lineup of fabulous Dollys and Horaces, et cetera. This Music Man was just boring. I adore Hugh and Sutton and think the company was terrific but on the whole, this production just was a bit of a snoozer. Not upset at all that we'll have a new tenant in the Winter Garden soon.
Major congrats to the team on this production, though, on a massive and undeniable financial hit!
Just like "Hello, Dolly!" this production was just so incredibly joyous. Saw the show in April and loved every moment of it. Will be coming back to NYC in November seeing the NY Pops at Carnegie Hall, and will add this to my list of shows to see again that weekend.
Has anyone sat on the extreme right and left sides of the orchestra? The photos on View from My Seat look OK and are like half the price of the center orch...I'm going to get tix for visiting relatives in December and they may have issues with the Mezz.

It will be interesting to see what they are priced at now.
The only thing I think the show could have used was maybe more tap dancing."
I liked this revival but didn't love it. Everything felt a little bit lukewarm to me. But what a big fat gigantic hit for Broadway at a time where the industry needed that to happen so good for them!
To me this whole revival comes off as "Why?" To get Hugh another Tony? There was nothing of interest happening on stage. Very rarely does a show need MORE dancing. Especially this one.
With such interesting revivals happening - Company, Oklahoma, etc - this whole thing just felt so... bland and boring. Glad people made money and whatnot.
People are not giving THE MUSIC MAN credit enough!
Unquestionably, it paved the way in a significant manner for the return of Broadway! The Best Musical and the Best Revival could not do it on their own or in a big way. People who came to NYC ( including overseas theatregoers ) to see THE MUSIC MAN were also enticed to see other shows since they were already in town ( and that goes for the collateral benefits to airlines/hotels/restaurants/tourist sites). People who came to see it because of movie star Hugh Jackman discovered Broadway ...and will likely come back for more Broadway.
It was a show whose main attraction signed up for only a year ( he does have a film career - he already lost the FERRARI role because of the delays in the run of The Music Man due to the pandemic) so it is not surprising that the show considered only the same amount of time in its limited run. It was an absolute crowd pleaser! People came, apart from wanting to see a Broadway cum Hollywood star, for other reasons - events in their lives, reunions, family trips, even to renew memories of The Music Man in their own involvement in high school musicals or community theatre . Or to some, just to see period Americana in such a joyous setting is good enough!
Let's celebrate its success and not put it down as a forgettable Broadway memory!
Jo ( Overseas Broadway theatregoer since way, way back).
Aren't BEETLEJUICE's grosses lessening? All of a sudden I'm seeing TV ads for the show, which to me indicate some worry on the part of the producers as to the show's longevity.
Sutton is out of the matinee today. (A little disappointed they didn’t send an email or announce before hand.) Just found our when I got to my seat. I was thinking maybe I would come back and see it again, but not sure I’ll be able to make it back to NYC by closing.
Sutton Ross said: "They should have sent an email, Sutton was the sole reason I saw this show. She is a draw and the reason why many people attend this show."
I was more interested in seeing her than Hugh so I’m disappointed. I also exchanged my ticket for a better seat at the BO and they didn’t mention anything!
