Did Six start off-Broadway? I don't really know much about it's path to Broadway other than it opened in London first.
Six did not start off-Broadway before Broadway. However, it already had a huge international following, had cruise ship engagements, and had played several cities in the US before it did open in NYC.

They were doing right by nobody by attempting to put this show on Broadway. Their hearts being in the right place means nothing if they can’t even get a production to its first performance. And now they have multiple canceled productions to their name- something that is unusual and off putting to future investors."
For Broadway it really isn't important to have your heart in the right place, if your wallet has been misplaced.
“This is a team who believes queer art truly has an audience and stakeholders in the high profile commercial landscape and are jumping through hoop after hoop to bring these artists there, whom they believe in with all their heart. ”
I can respect this, but it’s clear they aren’t too capable of producing. Two failures back to back is pretty much a nonstarter going forward. I’d rather have people capable of bringing this queer art to existence than those who just say it loudly without results.
I think we'll do just fine not having this on Broadway not sure of their intentions or need for it to be on Broadway. Why not the Public or one of the other non profits would have been the better route or just off-broadway. I doubt it will even happen now. Move on..........
This seems like the sort of show that should do the smaller theatre route in Australia like the Athenaeum in Melbourne and The Powerhouse in Brisbane[especially here as there are so many spaces and it's the home to everything Alternative] and HOTA on the Gold Coast. He should be here now for Mardi Gras in Sydney. Forget Broadway and start your new journey here.

This is a lovely and funny little bit from Rob on this debacle.

This seems to be an emerging pattern - telling the stars of cancelled Broadway productions that they have been "postponed".

Yup. Memba' Room? Memba' Sing Street? Yeah I memba'...
this should have played off-Broadway instead.
It’s not “emerging” - it’s well-established. Just like restaurants “close for renovation.”
okay, we'll watch for the grand reopening!
Didn't covid happen to Sing Street? Not quite the same thing. (Of course, I could be remembering incorrectly.)

Good for them for not giving up.

This is... probably what they should've done in the first place.

Seems like a pretty short lead time for this. Announce it two months before today and it would have a decent chance. But I think it could be on a course for disappointment once again.

So Madge is joining Cabaret in London, but taking a week off two weeks in to do this show in NY? Interesting timing.

Any idea how this is selling now at NYCC?

Not well at all.

I just took a look at all three performance dates.
They are not selling tickets for the balcony. The rear mezz seems mostly sold for each performance. The front mezz, grand tier, and orchestra are practically ghost towns for each performance, at this stage.
I predict a cancellation of at least one performance if not all three of them. Most of the people who would have seen this will be in the Hamptons or Fire Island or Asbury Park.

fwiw rear mezz is where they're putting the Access Club seats (for people under 40), so I assume that's why they're well sold, but I'll wait to see when they show up on TDF. But also I don't feel like I've really seen this announcement picked up or talked about a lot. I guess it's tough timing with Tony nominations looming and with other awards announcing their nominees so the news about this might have gotten lost in the shuffle.

They now appear to be selling the front balcony (but not the rear balcony).
All levels on all performance dates are WIDE open, including the rear mezz which has more available seats than when I looked a week ago, I suppose due to Access Club (as Chris mentioned above) seats not being taken up.
Is Rob ready for lightning to not-strike twice?
I mean, WONDERFUL TOWN isn’t exactly selling like hotcakes, but they aren’t pulling the plug on that.
It’s 3 performances in the middle of Pride month. I don’t think anyone will pull the plug out on such a limited run. Was it silly to book here and not somewhere like New World Stages? Probably. But their heart seems devoted to getting this show up in New York one way or another and I already bought myself a ticket because why not? I was gonna see it at the Lyceum and, having met Rob, they are a lovely person and I want their success to eventually come here.
Skip a night at the club and go support a queer artist and their new work instead of being such ghouls on this message board.
