Did Six start off-Broadway? I don't really know much about it's path to Broadway other than it opened in London first.
Six did not start off-Broadway before Broadway. However, it already had a huge international following, had cruise ship engagements, and had played several cities in the US before it did open in NYC.

Kad said: They were doing right by nobody by attempting to put this show on Broadway. Their hearts being in the right place means nothing if they can’t even get a production to its first performance. And now they have multiple canceled productions to their name- something that is unusual and off putting to future investors."
For Broadway it really isn't important to have your heart in the right place, if your wallet has been misplaced.
“This is a team who believes queer art truly has an audience and stakeholders in the high profile commercial landscape and are jumping through hoop after hoop to bring these artists there, whom they believe in with all their heart. ”
I can respect this, but it’s clear they aren’t too capable of producing. Two failures back to back is pretty much a nonstarter going forward. I’d rather have people capable of bringing this queer art to existence than those who just say it loudly without results.
I think we'll do just fine not having this on Broadway not sure of their intentions or need for it to be on Broadway. Why not the Public or one of the other non profits would have been the better route or just off-broadway. I doubt it will even happen now. Move on..........

This seems like the sort of show that should do the smaller theatre route in Australia like the Athenaeum in Melbourne and The Powerhouse in Brisbane[especially here as there are so many spaces and it's the home to everything Alternative] and HOTA on the Gold Coast. He should be here now for Mardi Gras in Sydney. Forget Broadway and start your new journey here.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Didn't covid happen to Sing Street? Not quite the same thing. (Of course, I could be remembering incorrectly.)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
