True, but maybe this was simply the end of her contract and she has some TV + film commitments.

Sept 6 was the initial closing date before it extended; Gasteyer may not have been available or willing to extend (she often tours in the holiday season, as well).

Fabulous casting.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I don't think they ever thought it was going to be a big hit but I believe she likes short runs, like Once Upon a Mattress. Her voice is not what it used to be either. And Jennifer is a major get for such a horrible show. I think it's still closing in January unless I missed something?

they posted Simard's entrance as Mildred Layton and im sure she will be fine/good in this role but just that first line delivery makes you really appreciate Gasteyer's gift of the voice lilt and sourpuss face, like no other.

I have to agree -- even though I love Ana Gasteyer, and think she's immensely talented in everything she does, Jennifer Simmard is equally talented. I don't think there's one way to play such a villain -- granted I've only seen Gasteyer in video and audio, not live -- but Simmard specializes in that, too. Not to mention, it's one 15-second clip of her entrance...hardly enough to form a full opinion of her complete portrayal.

I don't think one is better than the other necessarily but it definitely seems like Simard is putting her own spin on the role from that short clip.

That's supposed to sell tickets? Nothing I've seen from this show will get me in the door. Maybe on tour in a couple years if I don't have anything better to do.

I was 40th in line for rush on a Sunday last month and got a rear center orchestra seat for $40.
I’m glad I was able to see it and at the price, it was definitely worth it. Max Clayton and McKenzie Kurtz’s performances alone are worth admission and should have been nominated.
The premise is meh and had “Two Strangers” been one act, I would’ve given that Best Musical.
