Certainly this production can't be compared to other, more traditional stagings. If you are looking to be 'surprised' by the directorial take on the material, this may indeed be the incarnation for you.
“I knew who I was this morning, but I've changed a few times since then.”
I'm surprised we still haven't gotten word on who the alternate Norma will be. Seems like there are no rumors either, which makes me think they still haven't decided yet.
I’d been asking around and the last I heard is that they want to go with someone who isn’t a “name” but has some Broadway experience (along the Rachel Tucker route). Now that was over a month ago and as always things can change but I sort of enquiring at that point because I really got the impression it’ll just be someone who will in no way detract from Nicole’s “star”, if that makes sense.
Of course I write that and they’ll announce Idina is doing it lol

That's what I heard, too, and even knew some names that went in. It's trickier than, say, Donna in Dolly! cuz no one was going to outshine Bette's marquee value. Nicole is a draw largely based on the hype of this production. She's making her Bway debut. Too big a star as an alternate could pull attention.

Speaking of Idina, I could see Jackie Burns being a good fit for the alternate.

Or maybe, she just wanted to see a show. It's just a coincidence that the show she was seeing just happens to be the theatre she is expected to perform in!
The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince
Looked through some performance dates and doesnt look like its selling very well yet. Don’t have much knowledge of how advance ticket sales are nowadays though.
If I recall correctly same thing happened in London. After word of mouth it became very hard to get hold of one. Curious how this will go.

I'd be shocked if they transfer the UK ensemble. That gets extremely expensive and few people could justify that it's worth the money. MAYBE a dance captain or one or two people, but not the whole company.

Yea I agree. I do wish they would bring over the actress who played young Norma, as I found her to have amazing stage presence.

If true, this is completely normal, especially for a Brit who has to be housed by the production.
Not to digress here, but...
The big to-do in Broadway musicworld nowadays is that nobody wants to do 8 shows a week if you can do less. It's becoming unusual for the major names in Broadway music departments to actually conduct a Broadway run with regularity. They take on the Music Supervisor title, they're liaison between the composer and the rest of the music dept, they run rehearsals, they supervise everything during tech and previews, they oversee cleanup rehearsals, they make the major decisions, but they let someone else conduct it.
It's one of those things that makes costs go up, too, because now there's a Music Supervisor fee and a separate Music Director fee (which are both separate fees from the Conductor, arrangers, orchestrator, etc). When the Music Director and Conductor role used to be the same person, and the Music Supervisor role didn't even exist until well into a run when other companies and replacements started happening.
Yeah and now they have doublers to play many instruments and save money. That wasn’t a thing back in the day. On rare occasions, the composer conducts their own music like Jason howland has done a few times now at The Great Gatsby and Jason Robert brown did for the connector.

If I'm reading your ...comment correctly, that's not true at all -- it's long standing practice in orchestration to have reed players playing an assortment of reeds/woodwinds, keyboard players picking up a guitar, brass players switching between various instruments. Look at literally any Playbill, flip to the orchestra personnel, and you'll see (save for the string section) it's the exception to play one instrument, not the rule.
Auditions and callbacks have been held for a local US ensemble, so the UK ensemble won’t be joining.
I’d expect Abby Matsusaka to be in there somewhere, as she seems to not be transferring to Broadway with the Encores “Mattress” - and she’s pretty much right for this production of Sunset.

Who is? Nicole certainly isn't.
Nicole has been dating former Rugby player Thom Evans for many years, and they are now engaged.
Tom Francis is her co-star only."
Flash is talking about Hannah Yun Chamberlain (who played young Norma in London). It seems pretty obvious from Tom Francis' instagram that he is dating her.
