WaffleOnWheels, thanks for blessing the thread with that image. I want to blow that up into a poster.

The transitions between the Angels marquee to the Cher marquee:

Cher recorded an album of Abba covers? I will still buy it....but Erasure did that years ago.

I was hoping for more glittery or sparkly or just more FUN from the marquee. Doesn't really entice me.

She also saw the same flaws audiences pointed out and immediately took action and changes started within 24 hours of her taking the reign on the show. The work is going to be heavy."
I think this is correct. Now, whether it will turn it into a great show remains to be seen. But they'll be working.
As for the obvious comparison to SUMMER: the things the bothers me the most with that show is how I've heard from those I know that worked on it how much everyone was aware it wasn't ready to come in, but the producers wanted to beat CHER SHOW in and make some money while they could. Allegedly.

I would love to have something like that. I didn't really appreciate all that Bob did to help create CHER before this show and the costumes were on fire!!!"
Sorry, just saw this!
The show’s producers (minus Cher) gave these as gifts to folks associated with the show. I bought it from someone who (strangely) didn’t want it. I met Bob after the opening night show and we chatted about the costumes. I loved the show and it’s great to have a small piece of it (it looks amazing next to my cast signed posters)

I'm jealous! I did get Bob to sign my windowcard but that's not quite the same as a sketch!
Really wanted to have Bob Mackie sign my playbill the night of the press preview and chickened out at the last minute, especially since Cher was a no show. Now I am wondering since she will be on "Ellen" next week to promote her new CD, will she mention the show at all, or is it too early for her to be talking about something that won't be happening for awhile?...
Ellen is filmed in LA; I find that talk shows out in LA don't really care to mention Broadway.
I guess Ellen DeGeneres missed this bit of info when she did a cameo in the 2010 Broadway revival of PROMISES, PROMISES and did an entire segment of it on her talk show.

Unfortunately, there is really no part in the show for Ellen to play. It would be really nice if Cher brought along the three actresses that play her to introduce them to everyone, watch the ticket sales jump then!...

I just mean generally speaking, LA talk shows don't always ask their guests about theatre. No need for that snark...
Doubly excited today: Cher will be on Ellen today to talk about the new CD and she also announced that starting next year she will tour the US again! Tickets go on sale starting September 14th!...
Today's NY Times had a huge multi-part section with theatre & arts listings for the new season, including an interview with Cher. The paper was seriously huge today, & just about every broadway show had full page ads. Head Over Heals had a 2 page centerfold!
But I found it odd that there wasn't an ad for The Cher Show. Did they figure "why bother?" since they were already getting free coverage with the interview? She talked more about her new album than the show. Was she super disappointed in what she saw in Chicago??
I'm trying to decide what to pick to fill my last couple free spots for my December trip. So much of what is playing is not to my taste - I got copies of the plays Waverly Gallery & Ferryman & I hated both. King Kong & Pretty Woman sound lousy. All the promotional photos I've seen for this just show the three actresses, & honestly I can think of plenty of drag queens who do a better Cher than how they look. What about any scantily clad chorus boys? Does this show have any?

Is this a plus or minus for you?

Charlie Williams is one of the boys. He better be showing some skin or the whole thing is a waste .
It would move me to buy a ticket.
Honestly any show that seemed like it had a bit more "Oomph!" to it than most of what's on would move me. It is too bad Carousel was received so poorly & that Hello Dolly couldn't last without Midler, as is doesn't seem like there are many shows with good dancing & big production numbers right now.

This weekend, my husband and I both received heavy stock, tri-fold mailers for The Cher Show. Anyone else find these in your mailbox recently?

Yes I did. I got one the end of last week. I live in the Midwest.
I received one as well! The layout is beautiful.
Let's hope changes to the show can live up to the pretty pictures. They had a crazy hot mess to clean up.
So, the TV spot is now on regular rotation, and there's really no solid reference to the fact that Cher is not in this show. Then, if you go on Ticketmaster, the show details which explain that actresses are playing her are not easily found. There have to be people buying tickets who are expecting to see a concert.
