"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
I'm actually not digging Catherine Zeta-Jones' singing.
Waiting to have stuff thrown at me.

"We don't value the lily less for not being made of flint and built to last. Life's bounty is in it's flow, later is too late. Where is the song when it's been sung, the dance when it's been danced? It's only we humans who want to own the future too."
- Tom Stoppard, Shipwreck
There have been many events at Radio City broadcast on television, including every single Tony Awards telecast since 200(3?). Only this and last year have problems with the sound occurred (with the exception of possibly one or two tiny instances I may not be remembering).
I would LOVE an explanation of what the issues are. Apparently everyone in-house can hear fine and don't notice anything (not difficult in that large venue. You can whisper and it would echo everywhere!).
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Catherine defenders, explain that performance to me, please.

Joseph coat. i am glad i am not the only one thinking this. I didn't like that performance by CZJ one bit. I will get my bitchiness in like the anti kate finneran people if she wins.
THAT was one of the most bizarre interpretations of "Send In The Clowns" I've ever seen.

If CZJ wins best actress, it will be a complete shame. That was probably the worst musical performance I've seen all season. Granted I didn't see the revival, buy I wouldn't see that performance even if I was paid to do so. Does she think singing is only about overenunciating consonants? I just loved her turning the word "next" at the end of the song into a two syllable word. That was nothing but a snoozefest. And last time I saw so much obvious, affected, and embarrassing emoting was by a typical community theater diva.
