Matt Morrison was great. I can't figure out Lea Michele. Some of it sounded great, but some of it didn't.

God, it was so nice to hear them not sounding like computers.

Just now Lea reminded me of when Idina did Defying Gravity. A bit out of breath and a rough intro into the number. Not quite a brilliant performance.

Brick, I had the same exact thought. And it wouldn't be a bad move on Sher's part to cast her.
"We don't value the lily less for not being made of flint and built to last. Life's bounty is in it's flow, later is too late. Where is the song when it's been sung, the dance when it's been danced? It's only we humans who want to own the future too."

Note to Lea Michele: COVER UP THE TATOO next time!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

We have one more performance & 4 awards left to do with half an hour remaining. Hopefully their performance is only like a minute after they took 8 in the opening.

I liked their performances. It's a nice change from the overly-autotuned songs they sing Glee. I'd love to see both of them back on Broadway at some point (although the fangirls would be frightening.)

Am I the only one who didn't love Matt's performance? "All I Need is the Girl" is one of my favorite songs ever and I'm definitely a purist about it, but still I found it wrong... too pop-y. He sounded great, I just didn't love his take on the song. I am very happy he (and Lea) sang sans auto tuning though.

Wow! Lea, what a brave girl with stage presence. Not a perfect performance, but her confidence shines on stage.
And Matt is great! I think this pair of performance makes all other Tony performances pale.

Why Cap'N? tats can be okay.
Matt sounded breathy but belted those notes so well! I liked them both and they seemed to get the most applause of the night so far.
now...i am waiting for the proverbial forum walls to crash down when Sean Hayes wins. I have been right so far.

BRAVE? She's been on B'way since she was 9. It's totally 'normal' for her.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

Matt and Lea's performance is the reason is the reason I despise Glee. Bravo to them, though. Wonderful performances.

I kind of loved Matt's "All I Need.." even if it seemed too sped up and left him a little out of breath. I also love some Lea Michele though.

Matt was present, never moving for the sake of it, always specifically thinking and feeling, had a feeling of ease, radiated MANY kinds of energies that were theatrical. He knows what he's doing. A couple others tonight seemed like clichés, looking in places in the theater for no apparent reason, moving for the sake of moving, sounding pretty and communicating nothing. Matt got it, period.
Chillin' and teachin' acting and voice to muh Bway/Film peeps...

Matt Morrison's performance was the highlight of the entire show. Just excellent. Lea Michele performed it better on Glee. Didn't like her attempt at trying to channel Barbra.

Sean Hayes for Spiderman.
