I've used TDF a couple dozen times so far.  Most of my tickets have been great.  The only one I was disappointed in was "Hello Dolly".  It was far left, on the aisle.  I couldn't see part of the stage . It was really noticeable in the scene at the restaurant when they're having dinner. I couldn't see the younger folks at all, just Victor Garber and Bernadette Peters. 

I was annoyed, but given the prices for TDF tickets didn't say anything because it was still a great deal. I did look at the seating chart after I got home and it was a shown as a full price orchestra seat.  If I had paid the regular price I would have been p*ssed.

It isn’t selling as well as it was when it first started previews and throughout the holidays.

Adding to what @voteperson said... Yes, you should remember that TDF does not assign seat locations. That is up to the box office.

However, the seats ARE supposed to be in certain price zones. for instance, if I allocate seats to TDF that are $50 at full price, they will appear on the TDF site as $25. So their pricing is base on the price zone offered to them. Broadway shows often get away with seating TDF ticket buyers outside of the designated price zone because TDF always does better when they offer Broadway tickets. But I once got a stern warning from TDF because in the off-bway theater I worked for, one of their buyers was sat one row behind the "correct" price zone. (I had given them an aisle seat, which I actually deemed to be a better location than what was left in the correct zone which was closer but on the side of the house. Also the price difference was minimal, maybe $7-10, and it was about 150 seats in the house with no bad view. The company shouldn't have even created multiple price zones tbh, but i digress). But the patron pulled up her phone to look at our website after being seated and noticed she was a row behind what the ticket was worth and complained to TDF. Still can't believe she complained about a central aisle seat.

Anyway, the point being that you can sometimes figure out the possible areas you would be in a theater based on prices (and we all know that most broadway houses try to price as high as possible, so something you deem to have a partial view on the side orch might still be an $80-90 seat). If you get a better location, then the house was undersold and its your lucky day b/c the box office used TDF to fill in some gaps in better locations. 

Does anyone know where seats have been for Frozen recently? Want to see the new cast!

Is there any rhyme or reason as to when TDF is updated with new ticket offers? Seems like the past few months I only see a few of the same shows (except the occasional JLP that has a ton of performances)... Should I be checking at a particular time? Thank you :)

I also think you tend to see more tickets posted earlier in the week (Monday/Tuesday). I tend to check the site a lot, but I've also gotten a lot of good tips by setting an alert for this message board (thanks, everyone!).

Thank you Thank you Thank you!  My most anticipated show of the season!  Grabbed a couple of seats for 3/18!  worried about trying to deal with st. paddy's day shenanigans on the 17th.

There's a subscribe button at the top of the page. It'll send you an email whenever someone posts here. It's a lot of emails, but I think it's worth it.

I just got a ticket for the 18th on tdf. Really looking forward to this!

 

For Virginia Woolf yesterday afternoon I was mezzanine row B seat 18 (aisle seat on the far right side). I saw about 98% of the show since there is very little that goes on far stage left. Plus, you can't beat an aisle seat for a three hour play!
